Kate Ritchie, 44, will appear in the Channel Seven Spotlight special on Australian music legend John Farnham on Sunday.

John Farnham: The Lost Tapes features unearthed footage of the former child star sharing scenes with Farnham in an episode of Home and Away.

Shannon Noll, Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Phil Burton of Human Nature will also share their memories of Farnham in the new documentary.

The special features Farnham archive footage that has been hidden from fans for decades, including a duet with the late Olivia Newton-john.

A new trailer for the show features rare black and white footage of the star long before his hit You’re The Voice made him a household name.

The teaser also shows scenes of Farnham appearing in a long-forgotten charity telethon filmed in Western Australia.

Spotlight’s Michael Usher explained in Sunrise that no one had seen this telethon footage since it first aired decades ago.

“We were talking in the office and someone said, ‘You know this whole archive of John Farnham running a telethon in Perth, nobody saw it,’ Usher said.

He said Spotlight reveals many other interviews and appearances as well.

“Interestingly, when radio didn’t exactly pick him up, TV embraced him, so there’s this wonderful TV archive of all these lost John Farnham tapes,” he added.

“There are some magical moments. All the duets he’s done over time, and the one with Olivia, that’s one of his better ones that we remember.’

Usher interviewed Ritchie for the new program about her moment with John Farnham in Home and Away.

The actress was only 10 years old when she appeared in the beloved soap opera as the character Sally Fletcher.

Farnham played himself in the memorable episode, in which Sally, bedridden with chicken pox, takes center stage and is stunned when the pop hero ‘drops by’ for a visit and a special appearance.

The Spotlight special comes just two weeks after Seven achieved huge ratings with the moving documentary John Farnham: Finding the Voice.

The moving film, which told the life story of Farnham, attracted no less than 866,000 viewers in the major metropolises.

Last month, Farnham’s family gave a hopeful update on the legendary singer’s health weeks after he was rushed to hospital.

The 73-year-old was hospitalized in late March as he was battling a respiratory infection.

The latest health scare came seven months after Farnham underwent major surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his mouth.

The much-loved star has since made a full recovery from the chest infection and is now “at ease” as he continues ongoing treatment.
