Kate Moss has recalled the time Johnny Depp presented her with a diamond necklace in a very unique fashion – by nestling it between his buttocks.

Kate, now 48, and Johnny, now 58, were Hollywood’s ‘it’ couple when they dated from 1994 to 1998.

Their relationship recently hit headlines once again when the model was called to testify on his behalf and squash Amber Heard’s claim that he once pushed his supermodel ex down a flight of stairs.

Speaking to British Vogue, the model recalled: ‘That diamond necklace Johnny gave me, they were the first diamonds I ever owned. He pulled them out of the crack of his a**e.

‘We were going out to dinner and he said, “I’ve got something in my bum, can you have a look,” and I was like, “what” and I put my hand down his trousers and I pulled out a diamond necklace. That diamond necklace.’

During Amber’s testimony, the actress alleged that Johnny once shoved Kate down a flight of stairs – however, according to Kate – the actor actually helped her after she accidentally slipped.

Kate said during her testimony that Johnny never ‘pushed her or threw her down any stairs,’ in fact, she said that he tended to her after she tripped during a trip they took to Jamaica together.

‘We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I did. There had been a rainstorm and as I left the room I slid down the stairs,’ she recalled, while testifying via video link.

‘I hurt my back, and I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened.’

She said Johnny came running back to help her, adding that he ‘carried her to her room and got her medical attention.’

When asked directly by Johnny’s team if the Pirates of the Caribbean star ever pushed her down the stairs, she replied, ‘No. No, he never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs,’ she told the court.

Kate and Johnny dated for three years in the ’90s, after they met at a New York City café.

And as two of the biggest names in Hollywood, the stars’ high-profile romance quickly became one of the most talked about pairings of the time.

Although the pair were often spotted packing on the PDA on romantic trips around the globe and often attended glamorous events side by side, their relationship also had a darker side to it that embroiled the pair in scandal and controversy, and led them to be featured in many a headline.

They were seen getting into heated arguments more than once, and on one occasion, a disagreement between them led to Johnny being arrested for trashing a hotel room.

Elsewhere in her chat with the fashion bible, Kate revealed that despite being one of the world’s most famous supermodels, she just sees modelling as a ‘means to an end’.

She explained: ‘Modelling is a means to an end. It is paying for all the things that I want to do. I’m funding [lifestyle brand] Cosmoss by myself.’

Kate was discovered at age 14 by the founder of Storm Management, at JFK Airport in New York. Her life instantly changed forever, and looking back she noted there was lack of support for her and her peers at that time.

‘When I think back to what I was doing at that age, I am horrified at what was acceptable back then,’ she mused. ‘People wouldn’t believe it.’

While she has had highs and lows in the industry, she is proud of her 19-year-old daughter Lila, who has followed in her footsteps and is making a name for herself in the modelling world.

‘I think she’s on her own journey, and has found her own self,’ Kate mused, later adding: ‘She’s got really good fashion sense. I ask her advice. She doesn’t ask me, I ask her.’

She recalled a conversation she had with Lila when the teenager landed her first Vogue cover, with Lila saying ‘”Mummy, it was the best day of my life.” She felt like an independent woman doing her own job. She got there on her own. She felt that she had arrived in her own body.’

Likewise, Kate also remembers her first Vogue shoot fondly, noting: ‘When I had my first Vogue cover I thought, alright I’ve made it, that’s it, I don’t have to do it anymore. I think I was 19. It was really special, for me to be on Vogue it was like wow, I couldn’t believe it. I’ve got it framed at home. It’s one of my favourite pictures I think.’
