Revealed: What the Princess of Wales said to Prince William moments before touching his butt on the BAFTAs red carpet (and it was all about the crowd!)
A lip reader has revealed what the Princess of Wales said to Prince William moments before touching his butt at the BAFTAs.
On Sunday night, the couple walked the red carpet outside the Royal Festival Hall in London, where a rare PDA moment had royal fans going wild.
As they approached the entrance, William, 40, and Kate, 41, were filmed exchanging a few words before the Princess of Wales appeared to lean in and gently pat her husband’s behind.
To shed light on what the couple was discussing, lip reader Sophia Martell told FEMAIL that the Princess of Wales was re-enacting an exchange she had seen in the crowd by the red carpet.
After looking over her shoulder and smiling, the expert said Kate asked William if he had also seen what she had seen.

Sophia claims that Kate said, “That man, he patted her behind.”
Leaning a little closer, William seems to reply, ‘Did he?’
The expert says that Kate hit William on the butt to recreate what she had just seen.
After giving her a light whack, Sophia says the princess exclaimed, “That was so much fun.”
Many royal fans went wild for the moment on social media, with one writing: ‘Oh yeah! I saw it!’
Another wrote: ‘Oh oh oh oh yeah I saw that. Wow! She couldn’t love those two more if she tried. Fantastic.’
A third commented: ‘I see it too! How nice, actually.
Although William and Kate have regularly attended the ceremony over the years, Sunday’s event marked the first time they had walked the red carpet as the Prince and Princess of Wales.
When the couple arrived at the Royal Festival Hall in London, Kate Middleton, 41, and the Prince appeared to exchange a few words, before she leaned in and appeared to pat him on the bottom (pictured right).
William has been Bafta Chairman since 2010 and Kate first attended the event with her husband in 2017.
For his outfit, William kept things classic with a double-breasted black velvet tuxedo jacket.
Meanwhile, the Princess of Wales opted for a one-shoulder Alexander McQueen gown for the occasion, which she first wore to the event in 2019.
She has dressed Alexander McQueen, one of her favorite fashion brands, on numerous occasions, most notably choosing its creative director, Sarah Burton, to design her wedding gown.
