While visiting a men’s prison in Surrey today to support an addictions charity, it was revealed the mother-of-three had hurt her hand while trampolining with her children at home.
Despite having to have her fingers taped after the playing injury in their Windsor garden, Kate shook hands with staff at HMP High Down this afternoon.
It is far from the first time the royal family has worn a patch. Left hand, right hand; Kate’s otherwise flawless image is often marred by the unsightly skin-colored tape wrapped around one of her fingers or thumbs.

In May 2019, Kate wore a small patch on the right royal thumb at the Chelsea Flower Show – matching the princess’s camel culottes and cream shirt.
Then in November 2019, a small round spot was visible on the middle finger of her right hand during three events over four days.
Christmas Day 2016, and what covers that end of one thumb on the same hand as her famous sapphire and diamond engagement ring? A plaster of course.
Then there was the time in November of the same year when she wore a larger rectangular patch on the back of her left hand.
There was much speculation at the time as to whether a particular feline in the spotlight was to blame; namely the star of A Street Cat Named Bob, who Kate had met the night before at a movie premiere.
For those who have debated the merits of cloth (they stay in place better) over waterproof (tendency to peel but more versatile) patches, it should be noted that Kate appears to show no preference and wears both.
As we all know, Kate is an avid gardener, so it’s very easy for her to have an accident while pruning. Her latest injury is said to have occurred after playing on the trampoline with her three children at their Windsor home.
