Kate Middleton and William share sweet unseen snap to mark 12th wedding anniversary

The Prince and Princess of Wales today shared a heartwarming new photo from a family day out in Sandringham to mark their 12th wedding anniversary.

Prince William and Kate Middleton were married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, in a service watched by 36.7 million people around the world.

Now 12 years later, with three young children, the couple seemed more in love than ever in a sweet outdoor photo posted to their social media accounts.

In the portrait, taken by environmental photographer Matt Porteous, the royal couple can be seen cycling through the Norfolk countryside with their arms around each other.

The image is an outtake from a series shared on Mother’s Day and Christmas 2022 – and is now the fourth image we’ve seen from this particular day.

It was simply titled ’12 Years’ – with the addition of a red emoji heart

The Mother’s Day photos showed Kate spending quality time with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – while Prince William was nowhere to be seen.

But the future king appears in the newly revealed photo, smiling with his arm around his wife as the couple enjoys a quiet bike ride without the kids.

The photos were taken last year at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

The newly released image is the fourth we’ve seen from this family day out, the first of which was shared by the Wales family for their Christmas card last year.

It depicted the family walking hand in hand through the Sandringham estate on a sunny day, the royals dressed for warm weather in casual denim and matching blue attire.

Kate and William turned to their favorite – and most trusted – photographer Matt Porteous for the shoot, which offered a rare, intimate look at royal family life.

Today’s image sparked a slew of posts on the royals’ social media accounts from well-wishers congratulating the prince and princess on their 12th wedding anniversary

The environmental photographer previously captured the photo they used for their 2021 Christmas card, as well as Prince George’s third birthday portraits.

Today’s image sparked a slew of posts on the royals’ social media accounts from well-wishers congratulating the prince and princess on their 12th wedding anniversary.

One person said, “Happy birthday and cheers to many more.”

Others simply added, “Happy Anniversary,” while some commented on the “beautiful” photo.

Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, in a service watched by 36.7 million people around the world

On April 29, 2011, Kate walked down the aisle of Westminster Abbey in a service held by the then Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams.

The pair said ‘yes’ in front of 2,000 guests and were watched by 36.7 million people around the world.

Kate, then 29, wore a £250,000 Alexander McQueen gown, which included a lace bodice hand-stitched by the world’s finest seamstresses at the Royal School of Needlework.

Perhaps the most iconic moment of the couple’s wedding day came when they shared their first kiss as a married couple on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, to the delight of cheering onlookers outside the palace gates and beyond.

Moments before, as Kate stepped onto the balcony, Kate seemed to gasp as she watched the thousands of people who had poured into the public areas around Buckingham Palace to share in the joy of the newlyweds.

More poignant since the loss of Prince Philip: The couple’s wedding photo, with both sides of their families in attendance, taken by Hugo Burnand in the throne room of Buckingham Palace

Hard to believe: Crowds gathered on the Mall outside Buckingham Palace all day on the couple’s wedding day, brandishing union jackets and cheering as the newlyweds appeared on the balcony

And she had heard it hours before the same crowd drummed up the loud chant ‘We want Kate, we want Kate’ in the moments before the bride arrived at Westminster Abbey.

But 12 years after this spectacular day, Kate and William are probably preparing for their roles in this weekend’s coronation of King Charles at Westminster Abbey.

Meanwhile Kate yesterday gave a rare insight into her feelings about her late mother-in-law while chatting with royal fans in Wales.

The Princess of Wales seemed happy to talk about what her ring meant to her and said it was an honor to wear it with royal fans at Merthyr Tydfil yesterday

Kate got the ring – which used to belong to Princess Diana – when she got engaged to William in 2010

The Princess of Wales normally maintains a discreet silence about her husband’s late mother, but speaking to well-wishers in Merthyr Tydfil on Friday, she made some moving comments.

When a royal fan asked her about wearing Diana’s engagement ring, she confirmed it was “the same ring,” adding that she didn’t have to have it resized to fit.

“And it was exactly the same size,” she said. ‘It’s very special. What an honor to wear it. But unfortunately I never met her.’
