The Big Brother winner and now DJ married podcast owner Martin Bojtos in June 2022, after welcoming their daughter Noa the year before.

Just six months before they tied the knot, Martin asked Kate if she wanted to go to relationship counselling because they were having trouble communicating due to her postnatal depression.

“Martin was the one who suggested it, about a year after I had Noa,” Kate told New Magazine. “I wasn’t in the best position and it had a huge impact on our relationship.”

“Plus, we were getting married six months later and Martin just wanted to start our marriage off right, and that was absolutely the right thing to do.”

However, Kate admitted she ‘panicked’ when her partner made the suggestion, confessing: ‘I thought he wanted to break up with me. It was the hardest part of our relationship.’

“Having a child is the hardest thing you will ever do, but I also believe that maintaining your marriage after having a child is a huge challenge.”

The star called the therapy “priceless” and said the couple still have sessions every few months.

In the months before they tied the knot in 2022, Kate revealed they were in the “worst situation for a couple” as she spoke at length about their relationship leading up to the wedding.

She admitted she was ‘not prepared for the huge change’ in their relationship after the birth of their daughter Noa.

In 2021, she welcomed her first child, Noa, after long insisting she did not want to be a mother. Her partner of nine years, Martin, affectionately known as Boj, was “desperate” for children.

In conversation with Kate Thornton about her Podcast about White Wine Question TimeKate explained: ‘Since we became parents, our relationship has changed so much. I want to say it’s for the better, but unfortunately we both know, and are very aware, that we haven’t put our relationship first at all and we know that we need to take steps to improve it.

‘We’re getting married in two months and we’ve had the hardest year as a couple so far.

“But we know it’s because we’ve become parents and your life changes enormously when you become parents.”

She continued: “I wasn’t prepared for the seismic shift in our relationship. I thought it would change my life, me personally, but I didn’t think about how much it would affect us as a couple, even though friends were giving me advice and saying, ‘Look, you’re both going to say things you don’t mean, you’re both going to be more tired than ever before.’

‘We went out for a curry the other day because I pointed out that since Noa was born a year ago, we’ve only been on two dates alone. That’s not good enough.’

This week, Kate joked that her marriage was on the rocks, as she, Martin and Noa, along with their two dogs Baxter and Shirley, continued their summer holiday in Europe.

The star shared a video update on Instagram, confessing, “I think this road trip is going to end in divorce.”

Kate explained that the four-hour drive to their next stop took ten hours, over winding roads in the dark. She admitted that she had snapped at Martin for his driving.

“We’ve stopped at services, he’s been sitting in the toilet for ages. He’s Googling the best divorce lawyer in the UK,” she joked.

“We’ve got 600 miles left together, if he doesn’t walk into the sea tomorrow and never come back. Anything to get away from me.”
