Kate Hudson recalls ‘some fun drama’ and ‘a lot of hormones’ on the set of Glee during her guest star stint: ‘It was a very dramatic set!’

Kate Hudson reminisced about all the high school drama that went on behind the scenes of Glee in a candid new podcast.

The 45-year-old Academy Award nominee recalled her time on the “very dramatic set” when she caught up with co-star Jenna Ushkowitz on her Brother and sister revelry podcast with brother Oliver Hudson.

“Well, you know, when you have all those personalities and all that talent and all that youth and a lot of hormones… then it’s youthful and young,” she explained.

Although the cast was “all very close,” Ushkowitz, 37, acknowledged, “Yes, we all have our fights.”

“But we really were a family, and it was easier to get along than not,” she said.

Ushkowitz added, “As dramatic as it was — and it’s so interesting to hear you say that, Kate — there are so many moving parts of our show, and so many cast members, and so many personalities.”

Kate agreed, as she also theorized that the drama on set had to do with how “big” the show had become.

“You’re all a young little family and then of course you’re going to have all the things that come with that,” she said.

The Glorious artist continued, “The other thing is you had extraordinary talent on that show.

“There’s a reason it can be difficult to work with very talented people: they can be uncompromising,” she said.

“They really believe in themselves,” Hudson added. “They know what they have to offer, and so, you know, you get all that in one room, and it becomes a fun drama.”

Kate guest-starred on Season 4 of the Fox music series (2009-2015) as Cassandra July, Rachel’s (Lea Michele) badass dance teacher at college in New York.

The actress said Cassandra was “honestly one of the most fun characters I’ve played because she was so mean.”

She is currently preparing to release her debut album Glorious this year, following the release of her singles ‘Talk About Love’, ‘Live Forever’ and ‘Gonna Find Out’.

Ushkowitz, who rewatches and recaps Glee with co-star Kevin McHale on their own podcast And That’s What You REALLY Missed, said the experience was “strange, cathartic and therapeutic all at the same time.”

Other cast members, including Samantha Ware and Heather Morris, have previously opened up about on-set abuse at the hands of Michele, 37.

The Glee cast has also dealt with tragedy and loss over the years, after co-star and Michele’s ex Cory Monteith died of an accidental drug overdose in 2013 at the age of 31.

In 2018, Mark Salling died by suicide at the age of 35, weeks before he was due to be sentenced on child pornography charges.

Naya Rivera died at the age of 33 when she drowned on Lake Piru in California while boating with her 4-year-old son Josey.
