The singer was recently crowned the winner of the Ultimate UK Eurovision Song competition after a vote to discover the country’s favorite entry ever.
Sam came second in Italy’s Eurovision Song Contest last year, with his pop hit Space Man giving the UK its best result in over 20 years.
He missed out on the top spot to the Ukrainian Kalush Orchestra, but his infectious song peaked at number two on the UK charts.
Radio 2 held its Ultimate UK Eurovision Song vote, with Ryder’s performance beating Bucks Fizz’s 1981 winning entry Making Your Mind Up into second place.
Ooh Aah… Just A Little Bit by Gina G from 1996 came third in the BBC poll.
Tens of thousands of votes were cast on the contest.
Sam said, ‘This is just crazy! We went into that competition as fans and we thought it could be that we definitely finish last. I am just so grateful.
“Thank you to all the listeners who voted and everyone… who supported the song from day one.”
