Kate Ferdinand says she’s ‘so proud’ of stepson Lorenz, 17, who scoops end of season award with Brighton FC U18s as he prepares to move back into the family home

Kate Ferdinand showed her strong bond with stepson Lorenz when she praised him for his achievements on Instagram on Sunday.

The 17-year-old follows in the footsteps of his footballer father Rio and ended his season with Brighton FC under 18s with an awards ceremony.

Kate, 32, went along to watch the teenager, who signed as Seagull’s U18s goalkeeper in 2022, pick up a gong before he moves back to the family home this summer.

The former TOWIE star looked effortlessly stylish in a black fitted top, satin skirt and Prada heels.

She wrote, “And just that the season is over. What a proud moment to see you receive your award last night. It has been a joy to watch you grow and I feel so lucky to be on this journey with you.

“I love you so much and we are all so happy that you can be home this summer before the hard work continues.”

Last month, Rio’s eldest son signed with New Era Global Sports Management, joining his father and uncle Anton at the agency.

The 17-year-old signed for Brighton in 2022 as an under-18s goalkeeper and has made 18 appearances for the Seagulls junior team this season.

New Era’s current Premier League clients include Everton defenders Ben Godfrey and Michael Keane and Jacob Murphy.

In addition to current stars, the agency also represents the interests of Ferdinand, Mick McCarthy, Harry Redknapp and Robbie Savage.

Kate revealed last year that Lorenz had left the nest and was living with another family after signing for the Seagulls.

The TV star and Rio admitted it was very emotional when the teenager moved away, but insisted they were proud when the family he lived with praised his manners.

Kate said on her Blended podcast: ‘I was devastated when he moved out. It’s really something big, I was emotional. I miss him so much. We still see him twice a week, but it takes some getting used to.’

It’s been a busy time for Kate and Rio, who recently returned from PrettyLittleThing founder Umar Kamani’s lavish wedding in France

Lorenz has the unenviable task of following his father’s stellar playing career, which included six Premier League titles, three League Cups, the Champions League and 81 caps for England.

In addition to Lorenz, Rio has son Tate, 15, and daughter Tia, 13, from his marriage to his late wife Rebecca.

Rebecca Ellison tragically died of breast cancer in 2015 at the age of 35.

Kate is also mom to three-year-old son Cree and daughter Shae, whom she and Rio welcomed last July.
