Kate Ferdinand reveals she finally has the Christmas she ‘dreamed of’ after meeting husband Rio

Kate Ferdinand revealed her husband Rio made her Christmas dreams come true as she gushed over her partner in Sunday's Royal Carols: Together At Christmas.

The former TOWIE star reflected on the holiday season growing up as she admitted she spoke fondly of her partner and their children.

Kate married Rio in 2019 and welcomed son Cree, two, and daughter Shea, five months.

She is also stepmother to Rio's children, 16-year-old Lorenz, 14-year-old Tate and Tia, 11 – who he shared with wife Rebecca Ellison before she died of breast cancer in 2015 at the age of 34.

Rio spoke in a clip about the star's childhood Christmases: “Christmas is always something that stands out, spends good time with the family and creates memories.”

Kate added: 'All being together, having fun, being in our matching pajamas…

'I was an only child and lived with just me and my mother. But that's why I enjoy being surrounded by so many children.

“Rio has a huge family, so this Christmas we're having now is probably the Christmas I've always dreamed of!”

After the show, she took to Instagram to share their clip, writing: 'I was so honored to be part of The Princess of Wales' Christmas Carol Service

'This year the service celebrated the importance of early childhood, which we've talked about so much on @blended. I'm a big believer that our youth really shapes us into the adults we become.

“Rio and I talked about our traditions growing up and what we do with our family now.

'I always dreamed of having a big family when I was young, and when I look around me tonight, I have exactly that. I feel very blessed that no matter the ups and downs, I can hopefully make a positive impact on the lives of my 5 beautiful children.

'Thanks again to HRH The Princess of Wales for welcoming us and allowing us to tell a little part of our story.'

Kate has always spoken candidly about her experiences in a blended family and previously admitted that she “overthinks” her actions when it comes to caring for her stepchildren.

During a performance op Virgo Radio Kate explained, “My family is so accepting of it. They love me. It has nothing to do with them. I will always be a little worried, and it will be a bit of a struggle. I don't think the box was ever fully checked.

“I think sometimes I can make the mistake that they are teenagers who don't listen. I start thinking, “Oh my god, is it me? Is it because I'm their stepmother?”

''And every now and then I just have to sit back and say, 'They're teenagers and this is what teenagers do.' But you can be a little more sensitive.'
