Kate Beckinsale gets a special New Year’s Eve visit from ‘Eamonn Holmes’ in a hilarious clip from her house party

It looks like Kate Beckinsale had an unexpected guest at her New Year's Eve party as she shared hilarious snaps on Instagram on Monday.

The 50-year-old actress was shocked when 'Eamonn Holmes' joined her celebrations as she shared photos of her sitting on the knee of a mystery guest who donned a presenter mask for the evening.

Jokingly, the star – a long-time Eamonn fan – wrote: 'We were surprised to say the least when @eamonnholmes showed up at our house on New Year's Eve and we handled it with grace.

'However, my mother was disappointed that his cough and Nike slippers prevented him from doing a properly festive river dance, which we thought was the least he could do as an unexpected guest.

“Happy New Year, from us, and Eamonn, and his cough.”

In another clip, Kate read a card that read: “Who will still be a sexual dynamo at 80?” before looking around the room, possibly at the masked Eamonn, and bursting out laughing.

Eamonn entertained the bizarre joke and replied to the post writing: 'Dearest Kate, I'm sorry I've been such a party flop for you, which was bad enough but to disappoint your stunningly elegant, young at heart mother to say…. I'm ashamed.

“Both, please come to my house next time you're in London and I'll make it up to you. Until then, best new year to you and mommy xxx'.

Kate replied: '@eamonnholmes gratefully accepted! Next time we'll be prepared with a more supportive shoe. Happy New Year and thank you for always being a sport.”

The video showed Kate's late cat Clive in a small beret and jumper staring at the presenter's face, as Kate spoke in the background: 'What do you see Clive?'

The British actress then turned the camera to reveal Eamonn's photo and said: 'Oh good god!'

Joking in the caption, she wrote, “And in the distance they saw a star Merry Christmas Eve.”

Eamonn then commented on the video, saying: 'Dearest Kate…how honored I am to be your bauble… You made my Christmas. After this we should definitely meet each other..? I sense a nice studio conversation. Beck oning You are a great character.

'Thanks for laughing all year long. To many more, but the only thing I can offer in return is Cheesey Wotsits. Have a Great Christmas Day. Dearest Eamonn x' [sic]
