Kashmir Intelligence announces cash offer for information on LeT commander

Kashmir’s Counter Intelligence Service on Saturday announced a cash reward of Rs 300,000 for information on a wanted terrorist from Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Pakistan-based terrorist Sumama alias Illyas alias Babar, a commander of the banned organisation LeT, is wanted by CI Kashmir in a case registered under the UAPA and IPC, a police press release said.

According to the press release, Babar is engaged in radicalizing, motivating and recruiting potential youth from UT of JK into the terrorist ranks through various social media applications including encrypted messaging applications. He also uses Kashmiri internet users as couriers to collect and transfer funds to various terrorist organizations so that they can carry out terrorist attacks in the valley.

“The CI Kashmir has declared a cash reward of Rs. 3,00,000/- (3.00 lakh) for the above-mentioned Pakistan-based commander and contact person of the proscribed terrorist organisation LeT,” it added.

“If anyone has information about the above-mentioned terrorist commander or contact person that led to his arrest or detention, he may share it on the following phone number and address and earn the required reward. (The identity of the informant remains secret),” the report said.

A terrorist was neutralised and war articles seized during an operation in Sopore area of ​​Baramulla on Saturday, the Army said.

In a post on X, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said, “OP WATARGAM, Sopore #Baramulla. One terrorist neutralized and war material recovered. Operation continues.”

There has been a spike in terrorist attacks in the Jammu region in recent months, including clashes in Doda and Udhampur.

It is notable that elections are being held in Jammu and Kashmir after a gap of ten years. The last elections were held in 2014.
