Karren Brady beamed with pride as she talked about life as a grandmother during Thursday’s episode of You’re Hired.

Following the final of The Apprentice, Karren and Tim Campbell joined presenter Tom Allen in the BBC show’s spin-off after Rachel Woolford secured the £250,000 business partnership with Lord Sugar.

But before Tom welcomed Rachel or runner-up Phil Turner to the show, he congratulated Karren, 55, on her recent family news.

He began, “There’s been a lot going on for both of you lately. Karren, I hear that congratulations are in order because you recently became a grandmother.’

“I did indeed,” Karren confirmed before the audience erupted in applause.

“I don’t have any grandchildren,” the businessman joked, while Tom teased: “No no, something completely different I’m afraid.

“Congratulations are in order for Tim as he is torso of the week,” he exclaimed before holding up a photo of Tim’s incredible physique in a magazine.

Tim then explained, “I got the chance to compete with Usher Raymond, Lionel Messi, Matt Damon and Zac Effron and I thought why not, why not.”

Earlier this month, Karren revealed she had an “extra special” birthday thanks to the arrival of her newborn grandson.

Karren’s influencer daughter, the eldest of her two children with retired footballer Paul Peschisolido, confirmed the birth of her son last month but has not yet revealed his name.

It was the perfect opportunity for the businesswoman to show off her new grandson as they enjoyed a sumptuous meal and she was treated to a red heart-shaped cake.

Karren and Sophia, who held her bundle of joy, were also joined by Karren’s husband Paul Peschisolido, 52, and Sophia’s partner Frankie Makin.

Sophia wrote: ‘Congratulations mom/nanny. Baby’s first outing.’

Karren shared the post on her Instagram Story and wrote, “It’s an extra special birthday this year,” along with a blue heart emoji.

On Thursday night, Rachel, 28, became the fifth female candidate in a row to win Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment after beating pie shop owner Phil Turner, 37.

The final task saw Rachel and Phil go head to head to prove to Lord Sugar why they deserved to receive his quarter of a million pound investment and form a 50/50 partnership with the TV star and business mogul.

Lord Sugar chose the fitness entrepreneur to land the investment, saying: ‘It’s very, very difficult for me… My gut feeling tells me, Rachel, you’re going to be my business partner.’

On Thursday evening it was revealed that Rachel Woolford, 28, from Leeds, has become the fifth female candidate in a row to win Lord Sugar's £250,000 investment after beating pie shop owner Phil Turner, 37.

On Thursday evening it was announced that the 28-year-old fitness entrepreneur from Leeds has become the fifth female candidate in a row to win Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment after beating pie shop owner Phil Turner, 37.

When Rachel heard she had won, she said: ‘Taking part in the trial was incredible and coming out on top is beyond my wildest dreams.’

In the final boardroom, Baroness Karren and Tim gave their opinions on the finalists’ performance before Lord Sugar made his decision.

Speaking about Rachel, Baroness Brady said: “This business is her life and her passion for it really comes across. The problem really is how expensive it is to open gyms, and your investment will run out pretty quickly.”

Tim added: ‘I think the thing with Rachel is that she’s going into a great industry sector and she’s a huge advocate of her product and service…

‘It’s about its scalability. Can she systematize what she has done very well at two gyms and many more?’

After a final impassioned pitch from each finalist on why they should be his partner, Lord Sugar made his decision, saying, “Let me close here…

“This is a very difficult decision, I must say, because I have two very credible people in front of me. I have Rachel claiming she’s making money and will make even more when she gets the second gym up and running, but gyms, with all due respect, cost two cents…

‘Specialty cakes are not and it is a market I am very interested in, but how can I be interested in it if there is no light at the end of the tunnel…

“There’s a loss-making business right now that you’re telling me is going to recover and it’s going to be fine, and that’s my dilemma.”

‘It’s very, very difficult for me. I have problems here. But my gut tells me that, Rachel, you’re going to be my business partner.”
