Karl Stefanovic won’t be eating a burger anytime soon.
In a stunt the Today star may regret, the TV host attempted to eat 12 cheeseburgers on Friday when the breakfast show aired.
Karl looked uncomfortable and close to tears as he tried to chow down on fast food after losing a bet to Today sportscaster Alex Cullen.
The 48-year-old had promised Alex he would break his diet and eat 12 cheeseburgers if the sportscaster’s beloved Parramatta Eels beat the Penrith Panthers in Thursday’s NRL grand final.
After Parramatta triumphed in a thrilling 17-16 victory, Alex gifted Karl a bag of McDonald’s cheeseburgers on Friday’s Today show.

The 48-year-old looked uncomfortable and on the verge of tears as he tried to gobble down the fast food.
“I am a man of my word and they have worked with me for many, many years. I am prepared to take one or ten for the team,” Karl said.
Alex and co-host Sarah Abo joined Karl on the couch with their own burgers as the star struggled to finish her meal.
He was still trying to make good on his bet after the Today show went off the air, but he managed to eat only two burgers total.
A behind-the-scenes video of Karl posted to Today’s Instagram page shows the star struggling to finish a second cheeseburger.
Karl can be sitting in the corner of the Today studio, tie loosened, picking at his food and laughing at his situation.
At one point, he burped and belched as Today Extra co-hosts David Campbell and Sylvia Jeffreys looked on.
Another part of the clip showed Karl hitting his chest with his fist as he appeared to be suffering from heartburn.

Meanwhile, a follower criticized Karl’s ability to eat more than one cheeseburger with ease.
“Up your game Karl,” they wrote.
