New Year, New Home! Renovations on Karl and Jasmine Stefanovic’s $4.5million Sydney home gets underway

Karl Stefanovic and his wife Jasmine have started building their dream home on Sydney’s North Shore.

The high-profile couple are building a $4.5 million luxury mansion in Castlecrag, 9km from the CBD.

The Today show host, 50, and his shoe designer wife, 40, bought the property, a three-bedroom sprawl from the 1960s, for $3.2 million in 2021.

On Sunday, Karl informed his Instagram followers that demolition work had begun on the site.

And now photos have emerged showing workers have completely removed the roof of the original house.

Aerial photographs taken on Monday also show that part of the building’s wall has been demolished.

A large utility company and a trader’s vehicle were also seen at the location.

The couple’s plans for their new home include four floors with five bedrooms and five bathrooms, a pool and a spa.

Other highlights of the proposed renovation include a courtyard, entertainment room and three-car garage.

In March, Karl and Jasmine finally received approval from Willoughby Council to proceed with their renovation, after a protracted row over their original development application that lasted a year.

After a two-day hearing earlier this year, the Land and Environment Court ruled in favor of the famous couple, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The decision came after Stefanovic first submitted a report to the municipality in March 2023.

Neighbors responded to the couple’s plans with a range of concerns, including ‘loss of view’ and reflection from solar panels.

The celebrity couple’s legal team stated that the renovation ‘generally complied’ with Willoughby Council’s planning laws.

However, it did not comply with floor area ratio controls in accordance with local planning regulations.

The original application revealed that the couple’s plans included creating 102 square meters of living space below ground level.

The current house, originally built in the 1960s, has views over the northern slope of Castlecrag and features a self-contained unit with a separate entrance and en suite bathroom.

A design sketch shows that the completed property will have a beautiful contemporary design, spacious surroundings, patio doors and a spiral staircase.

It will also feature a stylish outdoor terrace with adjoining stairs and a host of beautiful architectural touches, including high ceilings and angled windows.

An expansive garden display will also be added running the length of the house, providing the perfect place for Karl and his wife Jasmine to raise their four-year-old daughter Harper.

Melbourne-based architectural design firm Studio Kennon also shared a photo of the mockup on social media, and Karl and Jasmine were quick to comment on it.

“Can we have it nowwwww,” Jasmine asked and Karl posted a love heart emoji.
