Karine Jean-Pierre SKIPS The View ‘out of respect for striking writers’

Karine Jean-Pierre SKIPS performance on The View as the Hunter Biden scandal sweeps the West Wing: White House blames ‘writers’ strike’ for press secretary’s absence

  • Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pulled out of an appearance on The View
  • The White House said she did this ‘out of respect for notable writers’
  • Her cancellation comes as the White House has been peppered with Hunter Biden questions

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre pulled out of a scheduled appearance Wednesday on The View “out of respect for notable writers,” the White House said.

Her cancellation comes as President Joe Biden and the White House have been peppered with questions over a WhatsApp message that suggested the president was involved in son Hunter’s overseas business deals.

An IRS whistleblower sent a 2017 message to House Republicans in which Hunter told a Chinese business associate that he was “sitting with his father,” adding, “and we would like to know why the deal that was made was not kept.”

The president twice denied on Wednesday he was involved in his son’s Chinese shakedown after years of denying that he coordinated with Hunter while the former son made deals with Chinese and Ukrainian associates.

“Out of respect for striking writers, we canceled our planned performance at The View” A White House official told Deadlineto excuse the absence of Jean-Pierre.

“President Biden and his entire administration sincerely hope that the writers’ strike is resolved as soon as possible — and that writers get the fair deal they deserve,” the statement read.

The View employs some writers represented by the WGAE East union.

The strike started in May.

Kim Cattrall of Sex and the City – who reprises her role of Samantha Jones in the spin-off And Just Like That – was the talk show guest on Wednesday.

Jean-Pierre had less facetime with the American public this week as her deputy, Olivia Dalton, made her debut in the briefing room at the White House on Tuesday and then traveled to Chicago with the president on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Dalton hit back at claims that Hunter complicated the lives of both the president and White House staff.

Last Tuesday, the Justice Department announced that the U.S. attorney from Delaware and Hunter had entered into a plea deal with the first son who pleaded guilty to tax crimes and is likely serving probation for a gun charge.

Two days later, Hunter attended the White House state dinner for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and later traveled to Camp David for the weekend with his son Beau and the president.

At the same time, House Republicans have been spreading WhatsApp messages regarding Hunter’s business deals with China.

“Every president of the United States has invited his family to a state dinner. This president also has a family. He’s no different. And other than that, I’m just not going to get into this,” Dalton said Tuesday.

Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich pointed to comments from former White House press secretary Jen Psaki, now at MSNBC, who said Hunter’s optics at the dinner were “definitely not” right.

Dalton still didn’t bite.

“Like any other administration, like any other president, this president has a family, and he did exactly what many previous administrations have done. And other than that, I really have no comment on this,” she said.
