- Charlotte radio host Mark Garrison interviewed Jean-Pierre on Tuesday
- He asked if Biden has dementia and about inflation
- “Wow, she hung up.”
Hanged White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre suddenly ended an interview with a North Carolina radio host who asked her about inflation after she asked an “incredibly offensive” question about whether President Biden has dementia.
Jean-Pierre called Mark Garrison of Charlotte AM radio station WBT on Tuesday on a day the president was visiting the state. But she didn’t hang up immediately when he asked her, “Does the president have dementia?”
“I can’t even believe you’re asking me this question. That’s an incredibly insulting question to ask,’ she started, before scolding: ‘No, no no – you’re taking us down this rabbit hole. Let me be very clear about that.’
As in her regular briefings, Jean-Pierre tried to steer her response toward the president’s record, rather than a flurry of physical stumbles amid polls showing voters concerned about the 81-year-old’s age year-old president, as he battles 77-year-old Donald Trump.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre quickly ended a phone interview after being asked if Biden has dementia, followed by a question about inflation — telling a radio host to have a “great” day
‘This is a president. If you watch him every day and really pay attention to his record, what he’s done, you’ll see exactly how focused he’s been on the American people.”
The question is not what ended the conversation quickly. It was a straight question about inflation after supermarket prices were mentioned. “How does Mr. Biden win votes when people don’t have that much disposable income,” Garrison asked, on a day when a new poll showed Biden winning in swing states but still trailing Trump in North Carolina.
“The president understands. He grew up in a middle-class, working-class family in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He gets it,” she said, before defending the actions he took regarding gas prices.
“We’re in a different place than we were a year ago in terms of gas prices, in terms of eggs, milk and fish products.”
Then she abruptly ended the call. “Thank you so much, Mark, have a wonderful, wonderful day,” she said – followed by a loud dial tone as she ended the call.
“Wow, she hung up,” Garrison said.

Inflation rose to 3.2 percent in February compared to last year, a decline in inflation but still a major concern for Americans and a political problem for Biden. But consumer prices rose by almost 20 percent between January 2020 and January 2024.
If Jean-Pierre had done a quick scan of Garrison’s allowed to play’. sports teams.” He also posted a Newsmax podcast in which the Biden administration blamed Trump for Afghanistan.
