Karine Jean-Pierre claims Joe Biden has done more in three years than any other president has achieved in TWO TERMS – citing CHIPS Act, fighting big Pharma and plans for student debt

Karine Jean-Pierre has claimed that Joe Biden has achieved more in three years than any two-term president in US history.

The White House press secretary, who gave several interviews in an effort to highlight the president's record ahead of a difficult election year, made the claims on CNN.

“You know, this president has done more in three years than any other president has done in two terms,” she said, claiming Biden is the most accomplished American president ever aside from four-term Franklin D. Roosevelt chosen.

She tried to list Biden's policy achievements as evidence of her boss's effectiveness over the past three years.

“Think of the CHIPS and Science Act, when you think about defeating big pharmaceutical companies and lowering prescription drug costs, when you think about how seniors and others… pay $35 now, our seniors are going to pay that when they Paid $200. per month,” she said.

'That matters. That's going to go a long way.” Several pharmaceutical companies have agreed in recent years to cap the price of insulin at $35.

The federal government last January began applying a $35 cap on monthly out-of-pocket costs for patients with coverage through its Medicare program for people 65 and older or those with a disability or illness.

As part of the American Rescue Plan, a 2021 law signed by President Joe Biden, drug companies will now be forced to pay more rebates if they want their drug to be covered by Medicaid.

She also cited the president's work on student debt, despite his hands being “tied by the courts,” and said he would continue with it.

Biden canceled $4.8 billion in student debt in early December, bringing the total he has forgiven for more than 3.6 million borrowers to $132 billion.

That's happening despite the Supreme Court rejecting his plan to cancel $400 billion in debt in June.

Jean-Pierre, who gave several interviews in an effort to highlight the president's record and start a difficult election year, made the claims on CNN's morning show on Tuesday.

Republicans have rejected the move, saying taxpayers would be forced to foot the bill.

Jean-Pierre, who replaced Jen Psaki as White House press secretary in May 2022, went on to promote the president's record on climate change.

“The president has done more on climate change than any other president has been able to do,” she argued.

“Those are the issues that young people care about and those are the issues that we're going to continue to work on and make sure that we deliver on the promise that the president made to young people, but to Americans across the country.”

Jean-Pierre also teased the president's hopes for infrastructure and his continued efforts to make abortion rights “the law of the land” after Roe v. Wade was overturned.

“So I talked about what else the president has done. He has taken more action in two terms than any other president, and he did it in three years. Look, we still have a lot ahead of us.'

The claims are likely an attempt to improve the president's record despite a continued downward trend in the polls.

Donald Trump is beating Biden in two key voter groups, giving him an overall lead in the presidential race, the first new poll of 2024 showed.

Trump leads Biden among Hispanic voters by five points, 39%-34%, and among younger voters by three points, 37%-34%, according to a USA TODAY/Suffolk University survey.

Biden won both voting groups in the 2020 presidential contest, where he defeated Trump and won the White House. Monday's poll also shows Biden losing support among black voters, another key voting bloc.

He now has the support of just 63% of Black voters, a group he carried by as much as 87% in 2020.

Overall, the poll showed Trump leading with 39%, compared to Biden's 37%, with 17% supporting an unnamed third party.

When third-party candidates were mentioned by name, Trump's lead increased to 37% and Biden's to 34%, with independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. topped third-party candidates by 10%.

The overall trend is troubling for Biden, especially among younger voters, who overwhelmingly supported him four years ago and largely disagree with Republicans on issues such as abortion access and climate change.

And some of the president's support appears to have gone to third parties. The poll found that 20% of Hispanic and Black voters, along with 21% of young voters, say they will support someone other than the top two contenders.

Multiple polls have shown that voters want an alternative candidate for the 2024 presidential election, with concerns raised about Biden's age. At 81 years old, he is the oldest American president in history. If he wins a second term, he would be 86 when this one is over.
