‘I’m going to win this’: Kari Lake dismisses Senate speculation, says she plans to keep fighting a lawsuit and become Arizona governor
- Kari Lake on Wednesday dismissed speculation of an Arizona Senate run
- A number of Republicans have been linked to next year’s race.
- But she said she planned to continue fighting her legal challenge to last year’s election.
Kari Lake on Wednesday downplayed speculation that she is seeking a Senate run, insisting she was only interested in fighting her election demand.
“I’m going to win this,” he told reporters at the winter meeting of the Republican National Committee at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach hotel in California.
Lake, backed by Trump, lost her campaign for governor of Arizona by 17,000 votes.
She blamed printer problems and discrepancies in the way voters were directed to other polling stations for her defeat, and filed a lawsuit to overturn the result.
Kari Lake on Wednesday night dismissed speculation that she plans to run for the Senate.
He spoke at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach hotel in California, where RNC members gather for their winter meeting and to elect a president.
Her fiery attitude and her alliance with Trump have made her a favorite of the MAGA base.
On Wednesday he was at a luxury resort, helping Harmeet Dhillon in his campaign to oust Ronna McDaniel as chair of the Republican National Committee.
“We have an incredible movement of real people,” he said. ‘They call him base, I call him mama bears and papa bears bears.
‘And we have an opportunity to take that energy and move it into the Republican Party and take over this country. We are all willing to do that. We need a change to make that happen.’
But the woman Trump calls a “murderer” for her stubborn insistence on victory couldn’t help but turn things around on her own campaign.
“They cheated in the Arizona election,” he said, “and have been cheating for a long time.”
Harmeet Dhillon is running to remove Ronna McDaniel as chair, saying the choice of venue shows how the RNC and its profligate spending are out of touch with voters.
They asked him if he planned to run for the Senate, when Sen. Kyrsten Sinema is up for re-election next year.
He said his only plan was to keep fighting to overturn the November election result.
“We are going to take every avenue possible to end fraud in the Arizona elections,” he said.
They sabotaged election day to take away our vote and our voice.
‘Only after that would I consider it.’
Blake Masters, who lost his Senate race last year, is also rumored to be considering another run.
Earlier in the day, Lake suffered a setback when the Arizona Republic found that Lake alienated some 33,000 voters in Maricopa County, around Phoenix, who ended up supporting Democratic rival Katie Hobbs but backed Republicans in other statewide races. .
Senator Kyrsten Sinema is up for re-election next year. She became an independent last year and the race draws a number of high-profile Republicans.
She is due to appear at a Save Arizona rally on Sunday in Phoenix.
Late last year, a Maricopa County judge ordered Lake to pay some of Hobbs’ legal fees related to the lawsuit, in the latest in a series of mishaps.
Judge Peter Thompson rejected Lake’s claim, saying there was no compelling evidence of misconduct.
She has appealed that finding.
Analysis of campaign donations shows that voter denialism is a lucrative business. In the month and three quarters between the election and the end of the year, Lake raised $2,515,169 after the election.
