- A woman refused to move while busking in New Orleans
- One of the entertainers asked an audience member to call the police
- Bystanders booed her several minutes before police arrived
A woman was led away from a performance area by police after causing a disturbance during a street routine in Pere Antoine’s Alley in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The TikTok channel @usa.karen.kevin posted two videos of the woman – also referred to as a “Karen” – interrupting the entertainer’s set.
She first stood in their way and then threw the bird at the spectators. The woman – who has not been identified – continued to harass by refusing to move from the area the buskers needed to continue their act.
The performers eventually asked that one of the bystanders call police to remove the woman after several audience members began booing her.
The second video consists of a conversation between her and New Orleans police officers, which forced her from the scene.
The woman refused to leave the performance area, which irritated the entertainers and audience alike
Police spoke with her for a few minutes after the artists requested that people call the police to address the situation
The performer who confirmed he was doing “flips” kept asking the woman to move forward and ask why she was staying around.
He asked, “You just stood there – why would you get in the way here?”
The entertainer began repeatedly asking her to move, and after she refused, he requested that the police be involved.
‘Can someone please call the police? Can someone please call her?’
The first video continued and the woman started a heated conversation with another female bystander while the artist attempted to de-escalate a potential situation.
Once the bystander walked away, onlookers continued to express their anger, with one man saying: “You ruined it for a bunch of kids, you don’t care.”
The street performers continued with the event along with other smiling bystanders
The woman eventually received cheers from the crowd as she was led away
Three police officers arrived on the scene less than 30 seconds after the second video, and the artist, no longer holding his microphone, explained the entire situation.
Everyone in the area then started shouting at the top of their lungs, “Take her home,” as she was talking to the police.
The New Orleans crackdown continued as she spoke with officers.
A fourth police officer entered the area and the woman was eventually asked to leave the scene.
Many users on TikTok were annoyed by the woman and what she did to ruin the street performance in New Orleans
TikTok users sided with the artists and were critical of the ‘Karen.’
One person said: ‘Could have stirred up the crowd and locked her out.’
Another said: ‘She would say it’s her birthright.’
“Then you throw rotten fruit at her,” said another TikToker.
One person noted in a sadder tone, “She already got exactly what she wanted.” she was the center of attention.”
