Late Power Rangers star Jason David Frank’s karate school faces lawsuit over alleged $47,000 in unpaid rent
Rising Sun Karate, a karate school once owned by the late Power Rangers star Jason David Frank, is being sued for $47,347 in unpaid rent.
According to the Valencia, California-based karatedojo TMZfaces a lawsuit from the landlord, the Valencia Marketplace, alleging that rent has not been paid in the months since Frank’s death on November 19, 2022.
According to legal documents reviewed by the outlet, the Valencia Marketplace, the mall where the school is located, says the leases for the dojo were initially signed 25 years ago, in 1998.
The Valencia Marketplace said tenants stopped paying rent at the end of 2022, around the time of Frank’s tragic suicide at age 49.
Marketplace officials said in legal filings that the dojo had received documents in March detailing the delinquent balance, but no money has been paid.

After Frank’s death TMZ reported in November that the dojo’s co-founder, Sam Sprague, a senior instructor at the school, pledged to keep the school open in an effort to preserve Frank’s legacy.
In November, the outlet reported that the school operated two locations in California and one in Texas, where they taught a style called Toso Kune Do, which Frank played while composing.
After Frank’s death in November, the school held a celebration of his life that was streamed on his official Facebook page.
That’s what Frank’s confidant Mike Bronzoulis told me TMZ in the aftermath of the actor’s death that he was hiding his struggles with mental health issues and depression.
Bronzoulis, an MMA fighter Frank had known for 12 years, said the Power Rangers alum was stricken with a family history of suicide and had lost his mother to cancer years ago.

Bronzoulis said he talked to Frank a week before his death and after his death found a message in his voicemail where Frank said he was dealing with “a lot” of problems and wanted to talk to him.
Frank was found dead by hanging in a Texas hotel room after an argument with his wife Tammie, who then called the police out of concern for Frank’s safety.
