Netflix’s new Jeff Goldblum series, Chaos, the actor plays god: literally, as he is the Greek god Zeus. The show is a very modern twist on one of the oldest characters in mythology, and while reviews have been mixed Chaos It looks like it’s another big hit for the streamer. And if myths are your thing, there are plenty more of the best Netflix series to keep you entertained. Here are three of our favorites with stellar Rotten Tomatoes scores.

Originally known as Gods and heroesThis adult animated series is set in ancient Greece and follows Heron, the demigod son of Zeus, as he tries to save both Olympus and Earth. Heron is a figment of the show’s imagination, although there were plenty of demigods mentioned in the original myths. Season 1 has a full 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and so has season 2. Espinof says it is “one of the most entertaining animated series out there.”

According to ScreenAnarchy“Stunning in dark, gorgeous animation, Blood of Zeus feels like a graphic novel brought to life” while Paste Magazine would clearly give more than 100% to season 2 of the series if they could: “We finally have a sequel season that is largely equal to and in many cases even better than its predecessor, thanks to compelling villains, improved visuals, and similarly clever nods to age-old lore.”

Ragnarok

Now in its third season, Ragnarok is set in a small town poisoned by pollution and rocked by melting glaciers, where the end of days seems nigh. It is a coming-of-age story with a dark mythological twist and some pitch-black humor, focusing on two young men who happen to be the latest incarnations of Thor, god of thunder, and Loki, god of mischief.

According to Book and Film Globe: “Ragnarok is uncomfortable and bizarre at its best” and that’s a compliment: the original myths are also uncomfortable and bizarre, and “the young characters in this series actually feel genuinely angry in a way that is appropriate for young people, especially in terms of the issues that young people face today.”

The Sandman

We’re hesitant to recommend this given the accusations against creator Neil Gaiman, but it would be a shame if the great work and performances on display here were overshadowed by the writer. We rated The Sandman highly regarded, describing it as “oh-so-nearly brilliant” and noting a “supremely talented cast who breathe life into The Sandman eclectic cast of characters”:

Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie, Boyd Holbrook, Vivienne Acheampong, Jenna Coleman and Mason Alexander Park. It is the story of Morpheus, one of the seven mythical creatures, who becomes trapped on Earth and discovers that the Dream Dimension he called home has fallen into ruin.
