Bianca Censori’s gangster family is embroiled in fresh legal row after her uncle was caught up in a police raid on a suspected paedophile

The gangster uncle of Kanye West’s wife Bianca Censori faced being jailed for life after he was caught living with a suspected pedophile, a court has heard.

Eris Censori, who was once sentenced to death in Western Australia for the murder of a waiter, was also called the ‘Al Capone of Melbourne‘ before his life of crime crumbled.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal that Censori was arrested by Victoria Police detectives in September 2020 on suspicion of fraud.

But the discovery of a cell phone belonging to his roommate – which allegedly contained child pornography – threatened to put him behind bars for good.

Although he was cleared of any wrongdoing, Censori was hauled before the Adult Parole Board upon arrest and faced being sent back to prison to serve his life sentence.

In a claim filed against the State of Victoria in the Supreme Court of Victoria, Censori alleged the search warrant that landed him on parole was obtained “by malfeasance and in the absence of facts.”

Censori – who has changed his name to Tony Campana – claimed his arrest “disgraced” his good character and “brought him public ridicule, shame and contempt.”

He escaped the death penalty for the murder of waiter Michael Sideris in the 1980s because the death penalty was later abolished in Western Australia in 1984.

He is the brother of Bianca’s father Elia ‘Leo’ Censori, who also served a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted in 1982 on charges of possessing a banned import. after a raid by the Australian Federal Police found heroin in his kitchen.

Daily Mail Australia announced last year that Leo was also convicted of possessing a gun and ammunition served two years of his five-year sentence on the drug charges.

Their eldest brother, Edmondo, known as ‘Eddie Capone’, has also been convicted in Victoria of violence including assaulting police, theft and making threats.

Censori’s lawyer Victor Andreou, who once defended Zlate ‘Steve’ Cvetanovski, the buddy of former gangland boss Tony Mokbel, appeared in court this week on behalf of Censori.

The court heard Censori hoped to gain access to documents that will help him prove his case against the government, which he holds responsible for his arrest by Victoria Police detectives.

In court documents provided to the court, Bianca’s uncle claims police used his sale of a Brunswick property to obtain the search warrant under the guise of investigating an alleged fraud against the Bank of Queensland.

At the time of his arrest, Censori was living with two other men in Bulleen, northeast of Melbourne.

“(Censori) was in his bedroom overlooking the courtyard when he saw the gate open and an escort of six large men entering, all armed with pistols,” the documents said.

“(He) immediately suspected that the escorts were members of Victoria Police. The thought filled him with dread.’

Police had alleged that the Brunswick property he sold was bought from him with fraudulently obtained money.

‘I think you made a mistake. I am the seller. I have not raised any money from any bank,” Censori told investigators.

Censori was escorted to his bedroom and claimed that police asked him to hand over documents related to the sale before being asked for access to his phone and computer.

“Upon completion of the search, (Censori) was shown a cell phone recovered from another resident’s bedroom and asked questions regarding the occupant of said bedroom and the contents of the cell phone,” the documents said.

Censori claimed that the lead detective told him that he was aware of his criminal conviction for murder, that he had served a long prison sentence and that he was still reporting to the parole board 25 years after his release.

“Any criminal charge, even an allegation of involvement in a crime, could result in a parole violation, which could result in me being returned to prison and ultimately deported,” he told the detective.

At the end of the search, Censori claimed he was handcuffed and paraded in front of his neighbors before being taken to the police station for questioning.

After Censori was fingerprinted and examined by police, he was released without charge.

Upon returning home, his housemate ‘Mohamed’ revealed that he had been arrested because he had images of child pornography on his phone and wanted to know what would become of him.

‘Mohamed tried to give an explanation as to why he had the image on his phone and (Censori) replied in terms: ‘Don’t tell me. I don’t want to know,” the documents say.

Censori claimed the parole board caught up with him in January 2021, when he was questioned about his relationship with the suspected pedophile.

“Approximately one week after this interview, the parole officer contacted the plaintiff by telephone to advise him that he had been referred to the full Adult Parole Board Board and that his presence with them was required,” Censori told the court.

“The full board decided not to return the plaintiff to prison for a parole violation, but warned that any further incident would result in his parole being revoked and him being returned to prison.”

Censori claimed that he told the board that he no relationship with his roommate and knew nothing about the contents of Mohamed’s phone.

“The probation officer expressed disbelief and said words to the effect of, ‘You are being deliberately evasive,’” Censori said.

When Censori took the case to court, he claimed the lead detective was ‘abusive’ [scornful] ignore for [his] right to privacy and liberty, where harm is inflicted with malice’.

In a lengthy list of claims, Censori alleged that police searched bedrooms and seized items outside the scope of the warrant and “deliberately encouraged the impression that he was involved in the crime of someone else’.

He further accused the police of assault, false arrest and imprisonment and initiating malicious prosecution.

In a statement responding to the claim, Victoria Police defended the manner in which Censori was arrested.

“(Censori) was under arrest for conspiracy to defraud the Bank of Queensland and (he) was given a formal warning, after which (he) stated he understood,” the defense said.

Police denied assaulting Censori, illegally arresting him or pursuing malicious prosecution.

It further rejected suggestions that Censori’s arrest had “disgraced” his good character.

“It denies that it has defamed the plaintiff, and further says that the Statement of Claim does not give rise to an action for defamation,” government lawyers said.

“It denies that any matter published or to be published by the defendant has caused or is likely to cause serious damage to the plaintiff’s reputation.”

The case will return to court in June.

ERIS CENSORI’S BATTLE WITH SISTER

During a court battle last year with his sister over a Brunswick estate, Elenia Censori described Eris as a man not to be trifled with.

“Eris is not someone you can say no to… he can be intimidating,” she told the court.

Eris was released from prison in May 1994 and lived with Leo in Melbourne for six weeks before moving in with his sister at her home in Heidelberg.

Their fallout stemmed from the 2005 purchase of two vacant blocks in Union Street, Brunswick – just north of Melbourne’s CBD – on which Eris wanted to build investment properties.

Eris indicated that in April 2014, he offered to sell one of the Union Street townhouses to his sister for $550,000, but she was only willing to pay $280,000.

He eventually sold the second mansion in 2013 for $675,000.

He was unwilling to sell the other for less than $550,000, which he said was a price that gave Ms. Censori “a significant advantage.”

Judge Michael McDonald told the court he accepted the convicted killer evidence, ordering Elenia to transfer ownership of the property – now valued at nearly $1 million – to her brother.

He further ordered Elenia to pay her brother the $182,097 in unpaid rent, with interest.
