Kansas girl Aria Mia Gonzalez, 17, who’s been diagnosed with cancer twice and given birth to baby is killed in horror crash that also claimed lives of two 19 year-old women

A teenager who had been diagnosed with cancer twice and just had a baby died in a car accident with her two friends in Kansas City, Kansas.

Aria Mia Gonzalez (17) was in the passenger seat of her friend’s car at around 1am on October 1 when the car crashed into a tree.

Gonzalez’s friend Ashanti Hill, 19, was behind the wheel of a black Ford Taurus traveling north on Emanual Cleaver II Boulevard when she lost control and crashed into the tree.

Her other friend Anaiyah Lewis (19) was in the back seat at the time of the accident and the three girls died at the scene.

‘She was a beloved family member/friend who brought immense joy to those around her. Our real life fighter who overcame so many difficult obstacles,’ said the GoFundMe page her cousin Ari Ella created in her honor.

At age 13, Gonzalez was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare cancer that occurs in the bones and soft tissue.

She beat the cancer and went into remission, only to find out four years later that it had returned.

This time she was in her third trimester with her daughter Se’vyn Sayori Gonzalez.

According to her Facebook, Gonzalez gave birth to her baby girl just two weeks after her second diagnosis on May 17, 2023.

“She gave birth to her daughter and had to go through the challenges of being a young mother and fighting cancer again,” Ella said on the donation page.

The money raised in honor of Gonzalez will be used for memorial expenses and for her baby who is now four months old.

Ella said: ‘The funds raised will go towards organizing a meaningful memorial to celebrate Mia’s life and provide a lasting tribute to the beautiful memories she created. In addition, a portion of the funds will be allocated to support the continued well-being and education of baby Se’vyn, to ensure that she has the necessary resources for a stable and nurturing environment.’

Friends and family of Gonzalez took to social media to share their condolences and support for the young mother.

Kiyara Nichelle Johnson posted videos of homemade tacos she is selling to raise funds for all three victims’ families.

“My heart goes out to these babies, families, loved ones, children, s/o’s, etc. the only way I can think of to help is to continue to pray and try to support in any way possible,” Johnson said said in a Facebook post.

Kansas City Discover posted a touching tribute to Gonzalez, who was also known as Freeway Mueneyg, on their Instagram.

“Her family is trying to raise funds for her mother who will now take custody of Mia’s 4-month-old baby girl,” Kansas City Discover said.

They then went on to promote another taco benefit sale that will be for her “celebration of life and to help ease finances for her mom.”

The GoFundMe for Gonzalez has raised $1,575 of its $5,000 goal.

Gonzalez was just shy of her 18th birthday, and it’s unclear what exactly caused the car to crash into the tree.
