Two adults charged with Kansas City parade shooting – but prosecutors STILL won’t name juvenile gunmen already in custody

Two adults have been charged with manslaughter following the shooting during the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade last week.

Lyndell Mays, 22 or 23 years old, and Dominic Miller, 18 or 19 years old, face charges including second-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

These two individuals are not the two juveniles charged last week with gun-related crimes and resisting arrest.

Prosecutors allege Mays pulled his gun first during an argument that led to others drawing firearms, including Miller.

At a news conference Tuesday, prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said Miller is believed to have fired the shot that killed local DJ Lisa Lopez-Galvan.

A youth in a red hooded sweater is seen hurriedly pulling off his backpack as if reaching for something in it during the argument.

Baker also said at the news conference that the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office was “not done yet” and that a number of other suspects involved in the shooting are still being sought.

The two men were hospitalized with injuries after the shooting and remain hospitalized as of Tuesday, Peters Baker said.

If found guilty, the two face life behind bars and will be held on a $1,000,000 bond.

The 22 injured range in age from eight to 47, according to Police Chief Stacey Graves. Half of them are younger than 16 years old.

Police initially arrested three juveniles but released one, whom they determined was not involved in the shooting.

Images circulating on social media show at least five people taken into custody following the shooting.

As investigators continue to investigate the case, bullets and shell casings left at the scene have become key pieces of evidence.

ATF specialists are working to connect suspects’ firearms to the debris left at the scene, a law enforcement source said. CNN.

Amid claims that one of the gunmen had lined up in a circle to target as many people as possible with bullets, bullets found in the area have also been taken for analysis.

The bullets left in the more than two dozen victims would ideally be matched to specific firearms taken from suspects to determine which weapon was responsible for each victim.

Because gun shell casings leave a unique mark, similar to fingerprints, the analysis can also determine whether the weapons were used in other crimes in the Kansas City area.
