Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown has been ruled out for the entire regular season by the Kansas City Chiefs, according to reports.
The wide receiver was one of the star players the Super Bowl champion acquired in the offseason, signing a one-year deal after two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.
He suffered a shoulder injury during his pre-season debut. He now needs surgery. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that he will be out until at least January.
The news will come as a huge blow to Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and co., who are trying to secure their third title after winning back-to-back Super Bowls.
After the game against the Jaguars in August, Andy Reid revealed it was a “dislocation of the sternoclavicular joint” and this week the head coach said it would last “months rather than weeks.”

And now the $7 million receiver will finish the season with just one preseason snap under his belt.
According to ESPN, there is still a chance he could return for the playoffs if Kansas City gets there, but he is not expected to be back until mid-January.
The injury suggests rookie Xavier Worthy will have a lot of the ball in 2024.
The Chiefs’ wide receiver corps was productive in Brown’s absence in the 28-20 win over Baltimore in Week 1.

Rashee Rice, a second-year pro, had seven catches for 103 yards, Worthy, a first-round draft pick, had touchdowns running and receiving, and versatile reserve Justin Watson had a 25-yard reception on his only target of the 27-20 victory.
The Chiefs also expect more from JuJu Smith-Schuster this week. He was cut by the Patriots and had only a few practices after re-signing with Kansas City before facing the Ravens, which would have limited the number of plays Smith-Schuster could have run.
The Chiefs play the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night in Week 2.
