Kansas City Chiefs launch ‘KC Strong’ fund to support victims of Super Bowl parade shooting – and donate $200k to kick off fundraiser… after Taylor Swift had earlier donated $100k herself to family of woman killed

The Kansas City Chiefs have launched a relief fund to support the victims of the Super Bowl shooting.

As Kansas City tries to recover from the mass shooting that threw Super Bowl celebrations into chaos on Wednesday, the Chiefs have finally taken a step to support their community.

The franchise announced Friday that it had created “Kansas City Strong,” with the Hunt family and the NFL supporting the cause with an initial donation of $200,000 to kick-start the fundraising effort.

The fund comes after chef Travis Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift made a moving $100,000 donation to the grieving family of the fatally shot Kansas City radio DJ.

The pop star, who did not attend Wednesday’s rally after flying to Australia for the next leg of her Eras Tour, made two $50,000 donations to the GoFundMe page set up for Lisa Lopez-Galvan’s family.

“I offer my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift,” read the message accompanying the gift.

Lopez-Galvan, 44, was killed when two young gunmen opened fire into the crowd in a “personal dispute” that escalated.

Two teenagers have been charged as juveniles in the Kansas City Chiefs parade shooting, despite a prosecutor previously saying they would be charged as adults.

The suspects, who have still not been identified by authorities, are charged with weapons-related crimes and resisting arrest, according to the Jackson County Family Court division.

Lopez-Galvan, a mother of two, was killed and 22 people were injured by gunfire when shots erupted amid the crowd of fans gathered at a rally outside Union Station after a parade through the city. Police Chief Stacey Graves said Thursday that the victims were between the ages of 8 and 47, with half under the age of 16.

Although the Chiefs have finally taken action, there is no sign of a donation from Swift’s friend Kelce.

The tight end has been under fire since the shooting after deciding to continue partying while injured children were treated in hospital for gunshot wounds.

After tweeting on Wednesday that he was “heartbroken” by the violence, the 34-year-old posed for selfies with police as he entered the Granfalloon Bar and Grill before heading inside.

Travis, who was too drunk to speak at the parade, decided to continue the celebration after the shooting with a “scaled back” party at a local restaurant.

He stopped for a selfie with police handling security for the event before entering.

The party was organized by the team after the Super Bowl victory, but many players decided to stay home after the tragic shooting.

Kelce wasn’t one of them.

He continued the festivities with some teammates and their partners, posing with Patrick Mahomes’ girlfriend Brittany in a photo exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com.

He has yet to respond to criticism of his continued celebrations.

Swift made a panicked phone call to Kelce in the early hours of the morning after being left “shaken” by the horror shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs parade just hours after landing in Australia.

The pop superstar was on the line around 6 a.m. Melbourne time, just minutes after gunfire erupted on the west side of Union Station at 1:48 p.m. local time on Wednesday.

Then her called her new friend Brittany Mahomes, whose husband Patrick is Travis’ teammate, with the pair taking comfort in each other after the incident that claimed one life.

“Taylor was, as expected, extremely worried when she heard about the shooting,” a source told DailyMail.com exclusively. “She immediately called Travis and was so incredibly relieved to hear his voice.
