Aussie man praised as a hero after stripping off to just his undies to save a kangaroo struggling in the surf

A beachgoer has been branded a hero after stripping to his underwear and running into the water to save the life of a young kangaroo.

Local Anette Oakes managed to capture the incredible rescue Port Noarlunga in Adelaide on Friday morning, revealing the man rescued the kangaroo after it jumped into the surf and began struggling in the waves.

“A scared little one became confused after bouncing into the boardwalk construction site at Port Noarlunga,” she wrote on a community Facebook page.

‘Then I decided swimming would be a good idea. It wasn’t that.’

The kangaroo “was submerged and definitely needed help” when he was spotted and rescued by the “legend”, Ms Oakes said.

“He undressed and jumped in to make the room safe again,” she wrote.

Social media users cheered on the man, who has yet to be identified, with many also impressed by his physique.

“It looks like an Australian travel ad to build tourism,” said one.

“That man was a goddamn hero. I was watching crying,” another added.

“How can I get him to save me,” a third wrote.

“Looks like I’m going to the beach tomorrow to pretend I’m drowning,” a fourth joked.

Kangaroos are generally considered good swimmers, although this is rarely seen in the ocean.

They usually swim across rivers to get from one pasture to another use their tails to move through the water.
