Snoop Dogg played a former football star sentenced to community service in a new trailer for The Underdoggs released Wednesday by Amazon Prime Video.
The 52-year-old rapper, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., portrays flashy wide receiver Jaycen “Two Js” Jennings in a high-speed crash in the upcoming R-rated comedy.
Kandi Burruss, 47, made a surprise appearance in the trailer as Honorable Judge Williams, who presided over a trial against Jennings and convicted him while the defendant wore a neck brace.
“You have pleaded guilty to charges of speeding and damage to city property,” Judge Williams said from the bench. “I recommend community service with the Long Beach Recreations Department.”
“I thought I was getting some kind of Martha Stewart treatment,” Jennings complained.

“Are you too good for the community that raised you?” Judge Williams said.
The trailer continued with Jennings introducing himself to a youth football team who were unimpressed by his boasts and wondered if he was a legend.
Jennings was carjacked in the next scene by a gunman who turned out to be his old friend Kareem, played by Mike Epps, 53.
Kareem and Jennings began coaching the boys, but the young players struggled with the basics, prompting Jennings to seek advice from his former high school coach, played by George Lopez, 62.
“If you really want to win the game, stop pushing your team away,” Jennings told a player who reminded the coach of himself as a boy.

Kandi has been a main cast member on The Real Housewives Of Atlanta since season two of the Bravo reality show premiered in 2009.
The Underdoggs began filming on location in Atlanta in September 2022.

The film was originally scheduled to be released in theaters on October 20, 2023, but the release date was later pushed back to January 26.
The Underdoggs will be released directly on Amazon Prime Video after R-rated comedies performed poorly at the box office this summer.
The sports comedy also stars Tika Sumpter and Andrew Schulz and was directed by Charles Stone III.
Snoop is also one of the film's producers, along with Blackish creator Kenya Barris, 50.
