  • When Dr. Biden greeted second gentleman Doug Emhoff at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, they kissed and their mouths appeared to touch.

Vice President Kamala Harris said Thursday that she had not seen footage showing second gentleman Doug Emhoff and first lady Jill Biden greeting each other with a kiss on the mouth.

“I haven’t seen the video,” Harris told Univision’s Edwin Pitti, when asked for his reaction to the awkward viral clip.

The vice president added: “But I do know that the first lady and the second gentleman are working hard with what we are doing with my husband against anti-Semitism.”

The Free Washington Lighthouse was the first to report Harris’s response to Univision, which was dubbed into Spanish.

The viral moment occurred when the first lady and second gentleman arrived for Tuesday night’s State of the Union address on Capitol Hill.

While their spouses were on the dais, they were sitting together on the balcony of the Chamber of the Chamber with their guests.

Dr. Biden, dressed in bright purple, held out her hand to Emhoff and then puckered up for a kiss, which seemed to hit him on the mouth, before sliding past him to his seat.

‘Um, why did Jill Biden and Kamala Harris’s husband kiss on the lips?’ wrote a popular commentator On twitter.

The kiss sparked opinion pieces, from left-wing publications like Slate and right-wing like The Federalist.

‘Everyone is talking about the strange kiss between Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff, except our national press’ the holder of the federalist damned.

“If only the kiss between Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff could last forever,” said the posted by slate.

Dr. Biden brought several guests to the Tuesday night event, including U2 frontman Bono and the parents of Tire Nichols, a black man who was recently beaten to death by police in Memphis.

He also brought Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who survived a politically motivated hammer attack.

Emhoff brought Ruth Cohen, 92, a Holocaust survivor, as a guest.

In his interview with Pitti, Harris discussed Emhoff’s trip to Poland and Germany late last month.

“I was in Poland, in Krakow, and I was visiting Auschwitz, to see what we should do to fight hate. He fights against anti-Semitism but also against hatred of immigrants and unfortunately we have seen it in our country,’ he told Univision.

“But the first lady and the second gentleman are truly concerned about many people who are overlooked and underrepresented,” Harris added.
