The FNC interview with Harris also easily surpassed the viewership of CBS News’ 60 Minutes interview from just a few weeks ago.
That interview, which featured both Harris and her running mate Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, averaged 5.7 million viewers.
Baier’s discussion also drew more viewers than CNN’s first joint interview with Harris and Walz in August, which had 6.3 million people tuning in.
The conversation with Harris and the more conservative network bordered on hostile at times, as Baier sparred with the vice president over her policy decisions.
Early in the interview, the Fox host tried to take her to task for President Joe Biden and her handling of immigration and border security.
She repeatedly asked him to stop interrupting her when he wanted to investigate her answers.
At times, Baier and Harris spoke over each other as they tried to make their points
There were also tense exchanges over Harris’ position on taxpayer-funded sex operations for prisoners and illegal immigrants.
The former president applauded Baier and the network after the interview aired.
“Great job by Bret Baier in his interview with Lyin’ Kamala Harris,” Trump posted online.
“She has a massive and irreparable case of Trump derangement syndrome — so bad that she can barely talk about any other topic than the man who had the best economy ever, the strongest border in history, and who just broke the border has achieved. the unanimous support of the US Border Patrol, I!’
“She’s also the worst vice president in history, but hopefully she’ll be gone soon.”
He then congratulated Baier again “on a tough but very honest interview, which clearly showed how completely incompetent Kamala is.”
