What Kamala says to Biden after he finishes emotional ‘farewell’ speech to the nation telling America ‘I gave it my all’

Vice President Kamala Harris told Joe Biden he was “amazing” and left her “crying” after he finished his emotional speech at the Democratic National Convention last night, DailyMail.com can reveal.

Harris walked onto the stage laughing and clapping as the president finished his speech. She hugged him and offered her heartfelt words of support.

“You made me cry,” Harris told Biden, according to a lip reader who decoded their conversation. The presidential candidate, 59, added, “I love you so much, you’re amazing.”

Harris also promised the 81-year-old that “I’ll be here with you,” suggesting she will continue to mentor Biden, who just passed the torch to her.

Biden delivered his farewell address to delegates and supporters on Monday night, saying, “I gave you the best,” to sustained applause, reflecting the energy unleashed by his decision to yield the stage to Harris.

He stressed that he bore no grudge against the approaching end of his term – despite reports to the contrary – and called on the party to unite around Harris.

When Biden took the stage, he was visibly emotional. He was met with more than four minutes of applause and chants of “Thank you, Joe.” He responded, “America, I love you.”

The president began by wiping away a tear as his daughter Ashley introduced him. His eyes were also visibly watery during parts of his farewell speech.

“I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my career, but I’ve done my best for you,” Biden said. “For 50 years, like so many of you, I’ve given my heart and soul to the nation.”

He called his choice of Harris as his running mate four years ago “the very first decision I made when I became our nominee, and it was the best decision of my entire career.”

“She’s tough, she’s experienced, and she’s got tremendous integrity, tremendous integrity,” he said. “Her story represents the best American story.”

“And like many of our best presidents,” he added, nodding to his own career, “she was also vice president.”

He also stressed that he was not angry about his resignation, despite the fact that a large number of Democrats had called for him to step down. He said he was acting in the best interest of the country.

“All this talk about how angry I am at all the people who told me to resign, that’s not true,” he said.

He indicated that he had five months left in office and said, “I have a lot to do, I intend to do it.”

“It has been the honor of a lifetime. I love the job. But I love my country even more,” the president continued.

Biden reiterated his 2020 theme in his speech, namely that “we’re in a fight for the soul of America,” and emphasized why Harris and her running mate Tim Walz are best prepared for this fight.

“Because of you, we have had the most extraordinary four years of progress ever, period,” Biden declared. Then he interrupted: “I say we, I mean me and Kamala,” sharing credit for his most popular achievements with the vice president.

Biden also promised, “I promise to be the best volunteer the Harris-Walz campaign has ever seen.”

Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff came out after his speech to embrace him and his family.

“Joe, thank you for your historic leadership, for your lifetime of service to our nation, and for all that you will continue to do,” she said earlier in the evening. “We are eternally grateful.”

Harris’s attendance at the party conference Monday night to thank Biden for his leadership was brief and unannounced.

Today she travels to Milwaukee for a rally in the swing state of Wisconsin, before returning to Chicago late in the evening.
