Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff breaks his silence after Daily Mail revealed he cheated on his first wife with his daughter’s nanny
The second husband, Doug Emhoff, admitted to having an affair during his first marriage after DailyMail.com revealed it in a shocking exclusive.
“During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through difficult times because of my actions. I took responsibility and in the years since, we have worked through things as a family and have come out stronger,” he said CNN in a statement Saturday.
His statement comes after DailyMail.com exclusively revealed that Emhoff had cheated on his first wife, Kerstin, with the blonde nanny, who also taught at their children’s expensive private school, and had gotten her pregnant.
A source told CNN that Emhoff has long regretted his affair, but is aware that his past could come to light.
The woman, Najen Naylor, 47, did not deny the story when DailyMail.com approached her at her home in The Hamptons, New York’s millionaire’s paradise.
She wouldn’t comment on it other than to say, “I’m kind of panicking right now.”

A close friend with direct knowledge of the affair and pregnancy told DailyMail.com that Naylor did not keep the child, despite her social media showing a video of a mystery girl named Brook in 2009, the year the baby was reportedly born.
Another friend, Stacey Brooks, who became a mother of twins around the same time as Naylor, also did not deny any of the claims, but said she would not release any further information without Naylor’s permission.
The inflammatory news was said to have caused panic in Harris’ campaign ahead of Doug’s statement, as she has surpassed Donald Trump in several polls and is in her final push to win over voters in November.

When Kerstin split from Emhoff, their daughter Ella was in the third grade. Sources told DailyMail.com that Naylor was Ella’s nanny at the time and had started as a teaching assistant at the Willows and eventually became a teacher there.
Emhoff, 59, and film producer ex-wife Kerstin, 57, ended their 16-year marriage in 2009 when she discovered the affair, the sources said. Their daughter Ella was 10 and son Cole was 15 at the time.
Sources claim that after the affair, Naylor was forced to quit her job as a teacher at The Willows, an elite private elementary school in Culver City, California, where she tutored Emhoff’s children and worked as a nanny for the couple in the evenings.
Employment records obtained by DailyMail.com show Naylor worked at The Willows in 2009. She is friends with current staff on Facebook.
Current tuition for kindergarten through eighth grade ranges from $32,525 to $41,535.
A mother who sent her children to the school before 2009 said she knew about the affair. Although she was disgusted by Emhoff, she had only positive words for Naylor, who taught her children and babysat them during family vacations.
“She was a lovely person, a great teacher to my children,” the mother, who wished to remain anonymous, told DailyMail.com.
Another friend with extensive knowledge of the scandal confirmed the affair with Emhoff, but told DailyMail.com that Naylor did not keep the baby.

When DailyMail.com reached out to Naylor, she declined to comment on her relationship with Emhoff or the baby. “I’m in a bit of a panic right now,” she said

In September 2009, Naylor posted a video on Facebook “introducing” three babies: Sawyer, Brook and George, with the caption “Baby shower!”
Sawyer and George are the boys of Brooks, who has been a close friend since childhood in Columbus, Ohio. The children were born in July 2009.
The third child, Brook, who looks slightly younger, does not appear to be Stacey’s daughter and is not in any of her later Facebook family photos. It is unclear who Brook’s mother is.
Another friend commented on the 2009 video of the three babies: “Ahhhhh!!! Post more pictures!”
When asked by DailyMail.com about the Emhoff affair, Brooks did not deny the information but said she would not comment further without Naylor’s permission.
She added that Naylor was an “amazing” woman.
A search of Los Angeles County birth records revealed that there were no records of a “Brook Naylor” born in 2008 or 2009. Also, no babies with the surname “Emhoff” were born in the county during those two years.
Naylor’s LinkedIn page states that she became Director of New Business Development at production company Broadway Video in 2011 and that in 2018 she took her current role as Senior Director, Original Entertainment Acquisition & Development at audiobook company Audible’s New York office.

Audible is owned by Amazon and based in Newark, New Jersey.
Naylor grew up in Columbus, Ohio, attended Auburn University, Alabama, and moved to Los Angeles when she was 20. She is listed on her citizenship papers as living in New York as of approximately 2011.
In 2021, she bought a waterfront home in the Hamptons for $855,000, with a $684,000 mortgage during the Covid pandemic.
Located off the main road in Hampton Bays, far from prying eyes, the renovated four-bedroom, three-bathroom barn is currently worth an estimated $1.4 million.
According to a source, Emhoff had reached a financial settlement with Naylor and reportedly quit her job at the school over the hushed-up scandal.
Naylor currently cares for a baby and toddler at the home. Her backyard is filled with toys, including a Wendy house and play equipment, and has a swimming pool.
She bought the house three years after taking her job at Audible at the height of remote work, and it’s more than 100 miles from Newark.
Naylor’s social media posts also reveal that she has been planning renovations to the property for some time, with photos saved of how she plans to decorate the children’s bedrooms and other spaces in her home.
Sources told DailyMail.com that Naylor was Ella’s nanny when she became pregnant, working first as a teaching assistant and then as a teacher at the Willows
The Emhoffs’ divorce settlement, filed in 2010 in a Los Angeles court, states that the couple split the costs of a nanny, a private tutor and private school tuition.
When the couple split in May 2009, their daughter Ella was in the third grade.
Sources told DailyMail.com that Naylor was Ella’s nanny at the time, working first as a teaching assistant and later as a teacher at the Willows.
After attending the Willows, Ella graduated from Los Angeles’ K-12 private Wildwood School in 2018.
Emhoff met Harris, then California’s attorney general, when he was set up on a blind date by one of her friends in 2013. They married the following year.
The allegations about Emhoff’s alleged affair were first made on July 31 by right-wing activist and journalist Laura Loomer in a post on the social media site X, though she did not mention Naylor by name.
Loomer said five sources told her that Emhoff cheated on his first wife and impregnated a teacher at the Willows school.
