Kamala Harris has fueled the presidential race against Donald Trump in key states that Joe Biden was on the verge of losing, new polls show.
In Michigan and Pennsylvania, the vice president is tied with Trump. In Minnesota, the score is up 6 percent and in Wisconsin, it is down 1 percent.
Harris has erased the leads Trump built up in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin before Biden withdrew from the race on Sunday.
The poll by Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research, conducted for Fox News from July 22 to 24, joins other polls showing the race is heating up.
Kamala Harris has tightened the presidential race against Donald Trump in key states that Joe Biden was on course to lose, new polls show
Trump is ahead by one percent in Wisconsin, but his lead in key states has disappeared since Joe Biden withdrew and Kamala became his likely replacement
Harris and Trump each received 49 percent of the vote in Michigan and Pennsylvania, while Trump had 50 percent and Harris had 49 percent in Wisconsin.
Minnesota, a normally blue-flagged state that has increasingly come into play, appears to be out of Trump’s reach again, as he has 46 percent of the vote, compared to 52 percent for Harris.
However, the races were direct elections and did not take into account the influence of third-party candidates such as independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Counting the additional candidates, Harris is ahead by two percent (45 to 43) in Pennsylvania and six percent (47 to 41) in Minnesota.
Trump holds a two-point lead in Michigan (45 to 43) and Wisconsin is tied at 46 percent.
Polls before Biden left office showed the president trailing by between two and nine percent in Pennsylvania, between one and seven percent in Michigan and about three percent in Wisconsin.
The Fox News poll did not survey voters nationally, but others from the New York Times and a few other pollsters showed Harris and Trump leading by just 1 percent.
Harris needs to win Pennsylvania to have a chance of beating Trump, and he likely needs Michigan and Wisconsin as well.
Losing Minnesota would be a shock and put Democrats at risk of a massive defeat.
More to come.
