Kamala Harris had a distinct mic moment during a briefing on Hurricane Milton.
Donald Trump’s campaign and critics on X are accusing the vice president of losing track of what to say during Wednesday’s briefing.
As Ken Graham, director of the National Weather Service, provided information about the storm, Harris could be seen awkwardly covering her mouth and heard saying, “It’s a live broadcast.”
Shortly afterwards, she asked Graham a question to give Americans more information about the storm’s severity, despite it being “downgraded” from a Category 5 hurricane to a Category 4 hurricane.
Kamala Harris was caught in an awkward hot mic moment Wednesday during a virtual briefing on Hurricane Milton, which critics accused of being a tool in her ear to fuel her talking points
‘You hear Kamala tell an assistant (who is questioning her) that it is a ‘live broadcast’ before immediately asking the question. She is a total fraud,” Trump War Room wrote on his X-page with a clip of the moment.
One user posted their own takeaway from that moment, writing on the Vice President’s X: ‘This lady doesn’t know what’s going on. Everything about her is scripted and fake.”
President Joe Biden hosted the event and gave a briefing on Hurricane Milton on Wednesday, as parts of the East Coast are still recovering from the deadly Hurricane Helene that struck earlier this month.
Biden attended in person, but Harris joined the call virtually, appearing on screen alongside DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and NOAA Director Graham, as well as officials from FEMA, the Coast Guard and the National Hurricane Center.
As National Weather Service Director Ken Graham spoke, Harris can be seen covering her mouth and heard saying, “It’s a live briefing.”
Florida has been bracing for Hurricane Milton’s landfall over the past week, and the government is preparing to send aid in the storm’s aftermath and provide any other assistance that may be needed.

“A clear display of incompetence from Kamala Harris,” they added.
