Kalvin Phillips ’emerges as a loan target for a Premier League side’ despite underwhelming spell at West Ham… as Man City outcast is ‘offered another lifeline’ to reignite his career
- The Manchester City midfielder could be given a chance at another top club
- Kalvin Phillips struggled when he spent the second half of last season at West Ham
- Phillips is looking to regain his best form after losing his place in the England squad
A Premier League club is reportedly prepared to offer Kalvin Phillips a lifeline in the English top flight after the midfielder spent a painful loan spell at West Ham.
Phillips recently returned to Manchester City for pre-season training and a deal is being worked on to secure his departure, with the midfielder keen to play more regularly.
The 28-year-old signed a six-year deal at the Etihad Stadium when he was signed from Leeds for £45million in 2022. However, he quickly found himself a regular on the Etihad Stadium bench.
Phillips made just 21 appearances during City’s Treble-winning season and was allowed just two Premier League starts after manager Pep Guardiola deemed him surplus to requirements.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham but failed to find his best form, playing just ten games and falling out of favour with the club’s supporters.

Everton are now looking for a replacement for Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana following his £50million departure to Aston Villa and are interested in Phillips, reports talkSPORT.
The former Leeds star is keen to regain his place in the England squad after missing out on a ticket for Euro 2024, with the Toffees likely to be a destination that could guarantee more playing opportunities.
However, the Merseyside club’s financial constraints mean they are only expected to be able to make a loan offer to City, with Sean Dyche looking for fresh reinforcements after Everton narrowly avoided relegation last season.

Meanwhile, Everton are attempting to complete a deal for Danish winger Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli after agreeing personal terms with the 24-year-old.
Negotiations are currently underway over a loan deal worth around £2million with an option to buy for the young attacker, which is worth around £18million.
