Kallangur house fire: Woman dies after she is found badly injured near a house fire – as man is rushed to hospital with serious burns

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found blocks away from a house fire before dying at the scene.

The woman was found with serious injuries at a Brimstone Court in Kallangur, Brisbane's north, at 7pm on Saturday.

Emergency services had been called to a house fire moments earlier after a building in nearby Frances Court was set on fire.

The woman was declared dead shortly after being found with serious injuries, while a man was found nearby with serious burns and rushed to hospital.

The man is assisting the police with the investigation.

Detective Inspector David Harbison, of Moreton Police District, said there was no danger to the public.

“This issue is still in its infancy,” he said.

'It is not appropriate to release any further details at this time; the investigation is currently in full swing.”

The fire brigade arrived on scene and found smoke coming from the front room of a building.

They managed to get the fire under control by 8pm, with part of the building's ceiling collapsing.

A neighbor told me the courier post that it had been a chaotic scene.

“We just got in and heard all the sirens,” Amber Joslin said.

She said the man who was taken to hospital was found on her street.

“Thank God the kids aren't home tonight,” she said.

“We're quite shocked.”
