Kaia Gerber and her new friend Rachel Sennott step out after bonding on the set of queer comedy Bottoms

Cindy Crawford’s daughter, Kaia Gerber, was seen enjoying a walk in Los Angeles with her friend Rachel Sennott this week.

Kaia, 21, who has followed in her mother’s footsteps into the fashion business, was walking her rescue dog Milo.

She and Rachel have just starred together in the upcoming movie Bottoms, billed as ‘lesbian fight club’.

Kaia adopted Milo in 2020, joining the many Americans who have brought pets into their homes amid the loneliness of coronavirus lockdowns.

Since late 2021 she has been involved with 31-year-old Austin Butler, who rose to new heights of fame last year in the lead role of the biopic Elvis.

His latest sighting comes after he covered the February issue of elle and responded in the magazine to the furor ‘nepo baby’.

“I’m not going to deny the privilege that I have,” he told the fashion publication. “Even if it’s just the fact that I have a great source of information and someone who gives me good advice, I feel very lucky for that alone.”

Kaia, whose mother rose to international stardom as one of the iconic supermodels of the 1990s, said: “My mother always joked, ‘If I could call and book a Chanel campaign, it would be for me and not for you.’ I’ve met amazing people through my mother who I can now work with.’

However, she insisted that there is an entirely separate situation when it comes to her acting career, which includes the upcoming Apple TV+ series Mrs. American Pie with Carol Burnett and the movie Bottoms.

‘With acting, it’s very different. No artist is going to sacrifice his vision for someone’s son. That’s just not how art is made, and what interests me is art,” Kaia insisted.

“Also, no one wants to work with someone who is annoying, not easy to work with, and not nice. Yes, nepotism is prevalent, but I think if it really was what people think it is, we would see it even more,” he said.

Bottoms, premiering at South By Southwest next month, reunites Shiva Baby director Emma Seligman with her leading lady, Rachel Sennott.

“I was a fan of Emma because I saw Shiva Baby and I was like, ‘Nobody’s ever done anything like that. It’s so funny and sad and real and touching,'” Kaia said.

The movie he was referring to was a dark comedy starring Rachel as a college student who surprisingly meets her sugar daddy at a shiva, a Jewish funeral tradition in which the grieving family mourns at home for a week.

Kaia gushed that Emma “has such a strong point of view, and I was immediately like, ‘What else is she going to do?’ Same thing with Raquel. I just thought she was so good at it, funny and real. I’ve always loved his stand-up.

Social media was recently abuzz with ‘nepo babies’ who are said to have gained careers in showbiz due to family connections.

Kaia is one of a host of starlets with famous parents, from Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp to Andie MacDowell’s daughter Margaret Qualley.

Maude Apatow, whose father is Judd Apatow, and Maya Hawke, whose parents are Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, have also risen to fame in recent years.

Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon, Heidi Klum’s daughter Leni Klum and Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough will also participate, among others.

Online talk about ‘nepo babies’ reached a fever pitch in December after New York magazine published a viral cover story about the phenomenon.

Dakota Johnson, whose parents are Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and whose grandmother is blonde Hitchcock Tippi Hedren, was one of the faces on the cover.
