Kaia’s slim dress hugged her slender body and included a collar that reached to her chin.

It clung tightly to her before flaring out into a pretty floor-length maxi skirt.

He kept his arm around his girlfriend as she walked the red carpet, and at one point Kaia held him too and stared seductively into his eyes, as if they were about to kiss.

The pair initially sparked dating rumors in December 2021, and they made the relationship official when they celebrated Valentine’s Day together in February 2022.

After being named to the TIME 100 list, Austin received rave reviews from Angela Bassett in a written tribute to the magazine.

She had previously been seen comforting the actor at the Oscars after he lost to The Whale’s Brendan Fraser.

During the play, she talked about her own Oscar snub.

The 64-year-old actress was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her powerful role as Queen Ramonda in Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, though she ultimately lost out to Everything Everywhere All At Once star Jamie Lee Curtis.

She began by recalling first meeting the Elvis star “in a fleeting moment” during a “very busy awards season.”

She added that the first meeting was “one of many where we would share a hug and warm words,” adding that she was “happy” to be considered a new friend of his.

“On the night of the Oscars, with Austin next to me, I totally understood how he felt when it came time to learn if he was going to climb those stairs to the podium,” she said.

Bassett’s nomination for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was her second nomination, her first being for 1993’s What’s Love Got to Do With It, in which she played the legendary Tina Turner.

While Bassett won a Golden Globe and an NAACP Image Award for her portrayal of the legendary singer, she ultimately lost the Oscar to Holly Hunter for The Piano.

So I took his hand and held it gently as the winner was announced. While his name was not mentioned, Austin is no less of a winner,” she added.

The time had come for Austin to say goodbye to Elvis as he began to embrace an infinite universe of possibilities as an actor. I can’t wait to see what he brings us next,” she said.

Bassett added that she had seen Butler’s performance in Elvis, “with a deep appreciation for all the work that Austin, I knew, had put into his performance.”

β€œThere’s a lot that goes into finding an icon of an actor, not pretending to be him, but providing a perspective on the artist as we play parts of their story. You walk away from that set forever changed,” she added.

β€œYou hope that when people see the movie, they don’t see you β€” they see an artist’s journey through a different lens. Austin achieved this with brilliantly nuanced execution,” she said.

Although it was a brief moment at the Oscars, many fans applauded Bassett for supporting Butler at his first Oscars, holding his hand while Brendan Fraser’s name was called instead of his own.

“Angela Bassett holding Austin Butler’s hand while he’s nervous…is exactly the kind of woman I imagined she was,” said Twitter user @NadineBabu.

Another fan @kat_a_bru replied, “Aww, the way she squeezed his hand at the end for encouragement.”

Another wrote, β€œIt has been a long road for her too. And she sat there in the front row, was friendly, held Austin Butler’s hand while his family had their turn, and held herself like the royal queen she is.”

“Shouting at Austin Butler clinging to Angela Bassett,” another wrote.

While many fans praised her for supporting Butler during his first Oscar loss, many others slammed Bassett for her reaction β€” or lack thereof β€” to her Oscar loss to Jamie Lee Curtis.

‘Everyone wants to win. However, most will not. That’s life. And a sore loser never looks good,” one fan wrote.

Another joked, “Anything you say Angela Bassett should have won against Jamie Lee…her reaction was bad sportsmanship.”

A third hilariously typed that Ariana DeBose’s panned BAFTA rap β€” in which she said, “Angela Bassett did the thing” β€” had cursed Bassett, saying, “She cursed Angela Bassett.” Since then she has lost all the prizes she intended to.’
