Kai Havertz wrote an emotional goodbye to Chelsea just before his move to Arsenal was announced.
His statement read: “Today I am at a crossroads, where words cannot describe the emotions I feel. It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter, saying goodbye to the club that has become my second home and to the fans who have supported me on this great journey.
“Together we have experienced the highs and lows, the joys and the heartaches. I want to thank every Chelsea supporter, staff member, coaches and my teammates for the past few years.
“Coming to Chelsea three years ago was an important moment in my life and I look back on these years with nothing but pride, gratitude and great sporting success.
“From winning the Champions League in my first season, to winning the Super Cup and the Club World Cup and now saying goodbye. It has been quite a journey that I will never forget.

Every second of my time at Chelsea I identified with what it means to represent the club on and off the pitch. I hope everyone remembers me for this. I look back at the memories that will last a lifetime. The club will forever be in my heart and I have made friends for life.
“It was an honor to be a part of Chelsea’s history. Thank you, Kai.’
Havertz wrote the accompanying caption: Dear Chelsea FC, I would have preferred you to hear my thoughts about leaving Chelsea from myself before hearing my thoughts about joining my new team.
“This is not my style and it bothers me that you have to hear about it this way. It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter to all fans. Thank you so much for all your support, we made a dream come true to win the Champions League together! Kai.’
