Kai Havertz has been brutally mocked by fans after missing two big cup chances against Manchester United in the FA Cup on Sunday.

United advanced to the fourth round with a 5-3 victory on penalties, after goals from Bruno Fernandes and Gabriel Magalhaes sent the third round match going full distance.

The striker missed a chance to win the match from six yards in the 88th minute and was the only player to miss his penalty in the penalty shoot-out.

Fans have pilloried Havertz with a series of memes, with pizza chain Domino even taking action, sharing a photo of him and writing on X: ‘Sorry if we missed any orders tonight, we just got this guy started. ‘

Another account shared a popular clip of a clearly untalented basketball player missing multiple throws to signify Havertz’s missed opportunities.

Meanwhile, another called Havertz “the reason they’re not going ahead.”

Another posted a video of a viral Havertz lookalike on social media tucking into a rather unappetizing-looking meal, writing: ‘Havertz highlights vs Manchester United.’

One fan, apparently loyal to Chelsea, posted a clip of a utopian society and wrote: ‘Havertz doesn’t play for Chelsea anymore’.

After a lukewarm first half, the match came alive after the break, with Fernandes putting his side ahead at the Emirates.

Shortly afterwards, United were reduced to ten men when Diogo Dalot was shown a second yellow card for a mistimed challenge on Mikel Merino.

Mikel Arteta’s side quickly capitalized on their lead and Gabriel brought the Gunners back level with a deflected volley.

Havertz was at the heart of the action when referee Andrew Madley pointed to the spot after ruling that Harry Maguire had brought down Havertz in the penalty area.

The decision proved highly controversial among the United players, and a fight subsequently broke out between the two teams in which Havertz was knocked over.

Martin Odegaard stepped up to take the penalty but was denied by a fine save from Altay Bayindir as the match remained level.

Arsenal continued to press in their hunt for an equalizer and looked to have a golden opportunity to take the lead when the ball fell for Havertz inside the six-yard box with just minutes remaining.

The former Chelsea striker deftly brought the ball down, but improbably fired his subsequent goal over the crossbar, ultimately sending the match into extra time.

Havertz’s night would ultimately go from bad to worse as the match remained drawn and was decided by a penalty shootout.

The 25-year-old was the only player to miss his penalty as United progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
