South Korean pop star Hyuna has spoken candidly about her years-long eating disorder in a new interview.

The K-pop veteran, who was just 15 when she debuted on the music scene, confessed that she ate just one piece of sushi a day so she could keep her weight at 40kg.

“Back then, I was surviving on one piece of kimbap, going through all the planned activities. And that destroyed me. When I was 26, I was so unhealthy,” she further revealed B season.

The 31-year-old elaborated on her problems on Korean talk show Point of Omniscient Interfere, where she admitted that the lack of food caused her to develop peripheral neuritis, causing her to pass out.

‘I used to eat very little. There were times when I wouldn’t eat for a week, and I even got peripheral neuritis,” she says Allkpop.

‘Every time my weight got too low, it triggered. I would pass out after surviving just one piece of kimbap. I fainted twelve times in one month.’

Addressing the incident afterwards, Hyuna wrote on Instagram, “I was dancing happily but I collapsed again so I was very upset because my body wouldn’t allow me to do what I wanted 100 percent.”

She added: ‘I think it’s my fault for not taking care of my body sooner. When I woke up, my blood pressure at the time was 70/40, so I couldn’t continue filming straight away.’
