Juventus are considering selling or terminating Paul Pogba’s contract

Paul Pogba’s future at Juventus is in serious doubt with the club considering the possibility of selling, or even terminating the Frenchman’s contract.

The 29-year-old returned to the Serie A club last summer, six years after he left them to join Manchester United for a world record fee of £100m.

While United fans rejoiced after getting rid of a player who, despite his talents, was unreliable, Juventus fans are in despair that his return to the club has been even worse than his last few seasons at Old Trafford.

That’s down to the fact that he hasn’t played a minute for the Bianconeri due to a knee injury, only returning to the bench as an unused substitute, during the club’s shock 2-0 loss to Monza at the weekend.

However, his nightmarish start continued when Juventus boss Max Allegri said he had suffered a setback before his debut after suffering “flexor pain”.

There is anger over Pogba’s initial refusal to undergo knee surgery, which delayed his return, as well as some frustration over his social media presence while he hasn’t played for the club.

As a result, the prospect of Pogba’s contract being terminated at the end of the season is no longer an impossible scenario, while there is a chance that he could be sold to a less competitive league like MLS in the United States.

Juventus and Pogba are experiencing a diplomatic rupture that is difficult to heal since the transfer did not work out and the player has destroyed the harmony in the dressing room.

At Juventus, it is as if Pogba has never set foot in Italy with 27 matches lost and fans are frustrated with his many posts on social media.

It feels like his job is that of an influencer, and fans are tired of waiting for a player who seems far from fit again.

However, his main flaw, according to fans, is that he only thought of himself due to his handling of his knee injury, forgetting about Juventus and the club’s need to replace Paulo Dybala with his immense talent.

Pogba initially refused to have surgery on his knee because he felt it would hamper his chances of playing for France at the World Cup.

He eventually underwent surgery, missed the tournament in Qatar and also broke the trust the club and fans had in the midfielder.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the club is tired of waiting and attributes all of Pogba’s physical problems to the mistake made in the summer regarding his meniscus problem.

Juventus are furious with Pogba after they invested over £31m to bring him back to the club, with the player signing a deal worth over £7m per season plus bonuses over four years.

Hopes were high for Pogba on his return after a successful first spell at the club.

However, his comeback has been worse than the last few seasons of his Manchester United career.

Cutting his contract cannot be ruled out, but it would be an option the club should consider very carefully.

By allowing Pogba to leave, Juventus could either buy two players on a salary equal to half of what the Frenchman earns, or look to sign a top player in Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

In the balance sheet as of December 31, Juventus paid Pogba more than £2.9m despite his lack of action.

There have been doubts about the transfer after he also missed a lot of action at Manchester United in recent seasons.

Pogba missed 100 games through injuries during his six years at Old Trafford.

His last game as a starter dates back to April 2022, when Manchester United played Norwich as his contract at Old Trafford was running out.

The 2018 World Cup winner was a huge fan favorite during his first spell at the club, helping them win four Serie A titles and reach the Champions League final in 2015.

Pogba had several injury problems even before leaving Manchester United for Juventus.

Pogba has been unable to contribute, while poor form and a loss of points have left Juventus in 13th place.

But Pogba has not been able to contribute in what has been a difficult season for the club.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced last month that Juventus had been deducted 15 points for ‘financial irregularities’ and ‘false accounting’ in relation to historical transfers.

This has left the club 13th in the Serie A table, with Pogba looking unlikely to help much in the closing months of the season.

After Juventus’ summer tour of America, Pogba stopped training to begin his physical ordeal that will probably make this season the worst of his career.
