“We have to continue doing our job, which is in the field. We have to thank the players for what they did tonight, because I realize it’s psychologically damaging to see you go from second or third to 10th, it feels like what you’ve achieved is taken away from you,” Allegri told DAZN.

“The players and the staff who worked around them are to be congratulated.”

Atalanta started the match strongly, having scored 13 goals in their last two matches in all competitions, and put Juventus’ defense to the test.

‘If you come to Turin just to defend, you will probably lose to a penalty or a free kick. I always think you need to score goals in these games or you don’t get a result,” Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini told DAZN.

Atalanta took the lead after five minutes when striker Ademola Lookman managed to get to the edge of the box, where his shot from a sharp angle past Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

The locals equalized in the 25th minute when Ángel Di María converted a penalty given for a foul on Ederson’s Nicolo Fagioli. Arkadiusz Milik completed the comeback with a volley inside the box from Fagioli’s cross less than 10 minutes later.

It took Atalanta eight second-half minutes to retake the lead, with Joakim Maehle equalizing 35 seconds after the restart before Lookman scored his second of the night in the 53rd minute.

Danilo equalized for Juventus in the 65th minute with a well-placed low free kick.

Lookman now has 11 goals and three assists in 18 league appearances for Atalanta.
