Justin Trudeau breaks up with wife Sophie four days after announcing his divorce, as he and son Xavier both wear pink for a Barbie movie outing
Justin Trudeau has broken the cover four days after announcing his shock split from wife, when he and his teenage son Xavier went to watch the Barbie movie in pink outfits.
The Canadian Prime Minister, 51, posted the photo to Instagram and Twitter just days after announcing his divorce from Xavier’s mother, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau.
The couple were married for more than 18 years and have three children together – their eldest Xavier, 15, as well as his younger siblings Ella-Grace, 14, and Hadrien, nine.
The leader of the Liberal Party rarely shares photos of his children, with the post offering an insight into his close father-son relationship with his eldest.
In the post, we see Trudeau and his lookalike son beaming in front of a Barbie poster at the cinema, while the Canadian Prime Minister donned a neon hoodie for their movie night while Xavier wore a fuchsia T-shirt.

The photo was captioned “We’re Team Barbie,” an obvious reference to the “Barbenheimer” trend — with blockbusters Barbie and Oppenheimer releasing on the same day, competing against each other in box offices around the world.
Barbie stars Margot Robbie as the famous doll and has just crossed the $1 billion mark, making its director, Greta Gerwig, the first solo female director to do so.
Prominent themes in the film include patriarchy and toxic masculinity – something Grégoire has been candid about in regards to raising her sons.
She said Narcissism in March: ‘I think if we don’t talk about the toxic masculinity and principles and cultures our boys live in, we won’t be able to address the true root causes of the problem girls and women face in our society. society.’
Now that she and Trudeau have announced their separation, the couple has said they will continue to be a close-knit family and continue to share parental responsibilities.
In a statement released in English and French on Wednesday, Trudeau wrote: “Hello everyone, Sophie and I would like to share that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate.

“For the well-being of our children, we ask that you respect our and their privacy. Thank you.’
Trudeau’s office also released a statement to confirm that they have reached a legal agreement and that the couple will remain amicable and will soon be vacationing together with their three children.
Sophie has moved from the family home to another residence in Ottawa, a spokesman said.
“They have worked to ensure that all legal and ethical steps related to their decision to separate have been taken, and will continue to do so going forward.
