Justin Long and Kate Bosworth confirmed their engagement on Tuesday’s episode of Justin’s podcast Life is short with Justin Long.

It turns out the Accepted star, 44, had planned to propose to the Blue Crush actress, 40, on her birthday in January, but that’s not what happened.

But first, the couple discussed why they decided to tell their proposal story on the podcast.

“I think we both decide to share this in this space because we’re probably going to be asked about it and we thought, ‘Well, how can we talk about this in a way that makes us feel the best,’ and we thought, ‘ Oh, I’d love to talk to you about it,” Kate explained.
