Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields appeared to be happily celebrating in a video shared by his manager on social media — amid talk of a possible trade to hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons.

Fields, whose future with the Bears is in serious doubt this offseason, had a big smile on his face as he jumped around, screamed and clapped in the video posted by manager Mario Nunez.

While there’s no word on what exactly the 24-year-old was excited about, a voice in the background appears to say, “Are you ready to go home?”

Fields has been at the center of the trade rumors as the Bears and many around the NFL debate whether Chicago should trade him and draft USC QB Caleb Williams, or trade the pick and continue building around the former Ohio State Buckeye.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding his future, Fields recently unfollowed the Bears and the NFL on Instagram, claiming he didn’t want to see anything football-related on his timeline.

Multiple teams have been linked to trading for the 2021 No. 11 overall pick, including the Las Vegas Raiders, Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers and most notably his hometown Falcons.

Not only has it been reported that Atlanta is showing the greatest interest in acquiring Fields, but the comment heard in the video about a willingness to “go home” will only fuel speculation that he will be under center in Atlanta next year will stand.

Several oddsmakers have made Atlanta betting favorites to acquire Fields, with some even going so far as to place bets on the subject — potentially signaling that the Bears have already made up their minds.

Last season, Fields compiled a 5-8 record while missing four games due to injury and had 2,562 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

He also ran for 657 yards and four touchdowns on 124 rushing attempts. In 2022, when he started 15 games, Fields ran for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns.

During a recent podcast appearance, Fields discussed the possibility of playing for his hometown team.

“Atlanta would be tough,” Fields said. “The only downside to going back home is people just flipping my phone up because they want tickets to the game.

‘But I think they have a lot of playmakers in the team, of course Bijan (Robinson), my son Kyle (Pitts) and of course Drake (London). They probably need another receiver, but they definitely have a few guys there and their defense has been good this year as well.”

NFL Draft expert Merril Hoge recently said the Bears would be wise to keep Fields and gave a harsh assessment of Williams.

Bears No. 1 WR DJ Moore also advocated for the team to retain Fields rather than replace him with a rookie QB.
