Justin Bieber’s ex-girlfriend Sofia Richie reacts to news he’s expecting first child with wife Hailey Bieber – eight years after their summer fling

Justin Bieber received a sweet response from ex-girlfriend Sofia Richie after announcing that he and wife Hailey Bieber are expecting their first child.

Bieber, 30, briefly dated Richie, 25, in the summer of 2016 during a break in the singer’s successful Purpose World Tour.

Hailey, 27, revealed the baby news via Instagram on Thursday and Richie was quick to express her support.

‘Ah!! Congratulations,” the model responded, followed by a series of heart emojis.

Sofia also happens to be nine months pregnant with her first child with music director Elliot Grainge, 30, who she married in April 2023.

Neither Bieber nor Richie ever confirmed their affair in 2016, but they were spotted on several PDA outings in Los Angeles and Tokyo in August.

At the time, Lionel Richie’s daughter flocked Billboard about their “special relationship” and how she was attracted to Bieber’s down-to-earth nature.

“Justin is very easy to talk to, and that’s hard to find in people in Los Angeles,” she said.

Months earlier, Bieber had rekindled a brief romance with his current wife Hailey following his split from on-off girlfriend Selena Gomez, 31.

Although Bieber and Richie’s romantic relationship wasn’t intentional, it’s clear the pair are on friendly terms.

Another of Bieber’s ex-girlfriend also publicly congratulated the couple on their baby joy.

Caitlin Beadles, the singer’s very first girlfriend in 2008, was ecstatic for the couple.

‘congratulations, happy for all of you!’ wrote the influencer.

Beadles met Bieber when he and his mother Pattie Mallette, 49, moved from their small town in Canada to Atlanta, Georgia to work with Usher on Justin’s music career.

They were just 14 when they began a romance that Beadles reportedly ended a year later – just before he hit the big time.

Since Beadles and her family were part of his early support system in the US, Bieber notably invited them to his and Hailey’s wedding in South Carolina in 2019.

Justin and Hailey received a slew of well wishes from their famous friends.

Kim Kardashian wrote, “I love you guys so much!!!!” while Chrissy Teigen wrote: ‘EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! You’re going to be one hell of a great mom, oh boy, get ready!!! So exciting, so happy for both of you!!’

Kylie Jenner wrote: ‘I love you guys!!!! ahhhhhhhh’ while mom Kris Jenner wrote: ‘We are so excited, I can’t wait, I can’t wait, what a blessing!!!!!’

Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, Jennifer Lopez and Demi Lovato were also among the stars who sent “love” and heart emojis to the couple.

Hailey announced her pregnancy joy with a beautiful video in which she debuted her baby bump in a custom Saint Laurent lace wedding dress by Anthony Vaccarello, paired with a flowing veil during the couple’s surprise vow renewal in Hawaii.

The star and the Baby hitmaker shared a sweet kiss as they celebrated their news during their outdoor ceremony – with Hailey wearing a new diamond ring.

Justin – who was dressed casually in a backwards cap, bomber jacket and jeans – was seen filming his bride as she cradled her bump – as the video was set to a new song by the Grammy winner.

The couple has been married since September 2018.

TMZ reports that Hailey is more than six months pregnant.

Justin and Hailey were first introduced in 2009 by Hailey’s father Stephen Baldwin at the premiere of Justin’s documentary Never Say Never.

The pair then had a brief fling in 2016, amid a lull in his decade-long romance with Selena Gomez.

When he and the 31-year-old Disney Channel alum finally called it quits for good in May 2018, Justin fell into Hailey’s arms and they’ve been joined at the hip ever since.

The couple has spoken candidly about their relationship over the years, including their “really tough” first year of marriage.

Speaking to GQ in 2021, Justin revealed that his and Hailey’s initial problems stemmed from “trauma” and “just a lack of trust.”

“There were all these things you don’t want to admit to the person you’re with because it’s scary. You don’t want to scare them off by saying, ‘I’m scared,'” he explained.

The Sorry hitmaker admitted he was ‘walking on eggshells’ during the first year of marriage, but now he has never felt more stable.

The couple previously expressed their mutual desire to have children, but in 2023, Hailey expressed his concerns about raising a family in the spotlight.

‘I want children so badly, but I get scared. It’s enough for people to say things about my husband or my friends,” she told the Sunday Times last year.

‘I can’t imagine having to confront people who say things about a child. We can only do our best to raise them. As long as they feel loved and safe.’

Last year, the founder of Rhode Skincare shared that she and Justin would like to start a family “in the next few years.”

You don’t know how long that process will take [of getting pregnant] everyone is going to take it. Definitely no kids this year, which would be a little hectic I think,” Hailey told WSJ.

‘Something happens to women when you get married. Everyone assumes it’s like this: “First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby,” Justin Bieber’s wife explained.

‘Well, what about the things I want to achieve in my business? I think I had it in my head that I wanted to have kids right away and that I was going to have kids super, super young. Then I turned 25 and I thought: I’m still super, super young!’

The Biebers celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary last September with Instagram tributes to each other, with Hailey writing a short but poignant message, posting: “5. I love you.’

Justin left a longer message in tribute to his partner, writing: “To the most precious, my loved ones. 5 years. You have captivated my heart. I know from the depths of my soul to my bones that this journey with you will only exceed our wildest expectations. So let’s keep dreaming, big baby. Cheers forever and ever. I love you with every fiber of my being. HAPPY 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!’
