Two Just Stop Oil protesters have been arrested after they sprayed orange paint this morning over luxury car showrooms of HR Owen, Bugatti, Ferrari and Bentley in Berkeley Square, central London.
You heard someone yell, ‘What are you doing? You are a disgrace” when the two eco-activists doused car showrooms with the orange substance from a fire extinguisher around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, marking the 26th day of protests by the eco-crowd this month.
Just Stop Oil said Emma Brown, 31, and Carmen Lean, 28, had traveled from Scotland to perform the stunt to demand that the government stop all new oil and gas permits and permits.
Then they stood outside the showroom and explained the reason for their actions.
In a video uploaded to social media by Just Stop Oil, eco-activist Carmen Lean said: ‘What’s it okay to buy and sell luxury cars when people can’t even afford to eat or heat their homes?
And as people around the world suffer and die because of the devastating impact of the climate crisis. The government must stand up.’
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that two people had been arrested for criminal damage.
They said: ‘Protesters sprayed paint at the Ferrari and Bentley garages in Berkeley Square at 8:30 am. With offices quickly on the scene at 8:46 am, two people were arrested for criminal damage. They have been taken into custody at a central London police station.’
Carmen Lean, 28, an architecture student from Glasgow, said: ‘We pay exorbitant bills for oil and gas, but it’s nothing compared to the price our children pay for it.
“New oil and gas is a death sentence for people all over the world. You can throw us in jail, but it won’t stop our outrage at this government throwing millions of people under the bus. We don’t ask for no new oil, we demand it.
‘This government is using the crisis to push through more austerity measures on the one hand and new oil licenses on the other.

The Bugatti showroom was also doused in orange spray paint Wednesday morning by two Just Stop Oil protesters, Carmen Lean and Emma Brown.
“Both are death sentences. If this government cared about people, they would insulate homes, invest in affordable public transportation, and scale renewable energy massively.”
Emma Brown, 31, from Glasgow said: ‘We have come from Scotland to demand another turnaround from this toxic government at Westminster.
“This time on our broken energy system. Get your hands off our North Sea oil and quickly scale up the renewables that will prevent catastrophic climate degradation and lower our bills.
“This is the immediate action we need to help the cost of living and the climate crisis. No more oil for billionaires to take advantage of.”
The Ferrari showroom declined to comment and HR Owen has been approached.
Today’s action follows three weeks of continued civil resistance by Just Stop Oil supporters, with police making 585 arrests.
Since April 1, Just Stop Oil supporters have been arrested 1,900 times, with seven of their supporters currently behind bars.

Footage surfaced yesterday of a fanatic pouring liquid into the front of 55 Tufton Street in Westminster, home of the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF) and other fossil fuel lobby groups this morning.
The paint came as part of a wider protest that saw a total of six protesters blocking Horseferry Road. Some protesters taped themselves to the tarmac in the road, while others locked themselves in.
An enraged taxi driver was seen driving down the sidewalk while fanatics lay in the middle of nearby Horseferry Road blocking traffic. The Metropolitan Police said the chaos had cleared up around 1:20 p.m.
Officers have arrested one person on suspicion of criminal damage and seven others on suspicion of intentionally blocking the highway.
The protester who threw the paint, identified by Just Stop Oil as a “normal guy from south London,” said he attacked the property in an effort to fight “great oil, famine, plague and war.”
On Monday, a group of protesters were arrested for throwing chocolate cake in the face of a wax figure of King Charles III in Madame Tussauds.
