Fans were in an uproar after Gary Neville received calls from students hoping to secure a place at his University Academy 92 on A-level results day.
The Manchester United legend founded the secondary education facility with former teammates Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes.
UA92 announced that it expects to welcome more than 500 students to the university this year, an increase of 49.2 percent compared to last year. The university hopes to counteract the decline in the number of students enrolling in further education across the country.
And Neville lent a helping hand yesterday by donning a pair of headphones and doing his best to imitate a motivational speaker to boost the mood of those in attendance.
It is therefore no surprise that social media has been flooded with fans mercilessly mocking the former England right-back for his attempts to console pupils whose A-level results were not as good as expected.

Neville lent a helping hand yesterday when he grabbed a headset and did his best imitation of a motivational speaker
Noah posted the video of Neville at the call center and said, “Imagine failing your exams and then Gary Neville trying to give you words of wisdom.”
Bassett defended the former footballer’s statements, but was not convinced by his performance on the phone.
“Neviller is a great analyst and is by far the best analyst I have ever known,” he said.
“He is clearly a gifted businessman. His talents, however, go well beyond motivational speeches.”
Thomas Moran added: ‘His day just got worse after we spoke to him.’

In his response, Norman Price referred to the expert’s short period as a manager in Spain.

In the video, Neville picks up the phone and says to a student, “Hi Charlie, how are you? I’m Gary Neville.”
After the caller answers, Gary realises that Charlie’s A-level results day hasn’t gone quite to plan.
“Why is it a bad day, what happened to you?” he asks.
Shortly after, he adds, “Okay. Well, look, I always think that life is like a game of football, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, sometimes you draw.
‘And apparently you’re a little disappointed this morning.
‘But what we do here at UA92 is we have many examples of students, young people like you, who have made the same journey, experienced the same disappointment on this day, but who have recovered from it very quickly.
‘And we offer people like you, who are disappointed today, a lot, but we also show them that there is a bright future, and you certainly have it.

The name of the institution is a reference to the famous team of the Class of 1992 with the founders

The university, which is a partnership with Lancaster University, has a campus in Old Trafford and a business school in the city centre, and offers a range of unusual initiatives, including the absence of end-of-year exams.
